Fire Commission Completes Interviews for Firefighter Candidates

The Fire Commission interviewed 20 candidates for the Firefighter Eligibility List. Interviews were conducted using Zoom Meetings. The Commission established a new Firefighter Eligibility List upon completion of the interviews.

Staff will now begin the process of offering employment to candidates on the Eligibility List for hire in early September. Six positions are open at this time.

Thank you to the seven members of the Fire Commission who spent nearly five hours doing interviews via Zoom this week.


Weekly Update
  • The remodel projects at stations in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood have required the Department to move resources to alternate stations at times during the construction. Currently, the paramedic ambulance normally assigned to the Shorewood Station has been operating from the Glendale Station. One crew remains stationed at the Shorewood Station during construction. Now that the Whitefish Bay Station remodel is nearly complete, the paramedic ambulance that is normally assigned to the Shorewood Station is scheduled to temporarily move to the Whitefish Bay Station on July 13. This unit will remain at the Whitefish Bay Station until construction is completed in Shorewood. Shorewood construction completion is expected in Fall.
  • Administrative Staff held their monthly staff meeting on Tuesday June 23. Staff discussed goals for the third quarter of 2020, reviewed recent training activities and performance and had initial budget discussions for 2021.
  • Staff interviewed two candidates for the position of Seasonal Laborer. This is a summer part-time position doing various building maintenance and grounds work.
  • EMS Shift Lieutenants conducted EMS training this week for all personnel.
  • Staff has begun preparing information for distribution to the Board of Directors regarding facility needs at the Glendale Fire Station.
  • Battalion Chief Tyk, Finance Director Harrigan and Administrative Coordinator Wenzel continue to work with Imagetrend, Andres Medical Billing and Fire Recovery USA on the Department's transition to a new electronic patient care record host site and billing service planned for end of this summer.
