Departmental Weekly Update
Fire Prevention Week Activities

The Department continues to spread the fire prevention message in the month of October. Fire Prevention Week is officially October 7 - 13 in the United States, but the Department dedicates the entire month of October to fire prevention in North Shore area schools.

Weekly Summary

  • The Department's Finance Committee and Board of Directors met on October 9. The Board took the following action at the meeting:
    • Recommended approval of a three year capital replacement program for two ambulances and a water tender to the seven member municipalities.
    • Recommended approval of the 2019 Fee Schedule to the seven member municipalities. The schedule has a 2.85% increase in EMS fees. The increase is based on the Medical CPI for the area. The fee schedule also includes a lift assist fee that will be charged to people who request the Department to assist with lifting them in their homes, but are not transported to a emergency department. The fee would be implemented if the person refuses to enroll in a fall prevention program delivered by the Department.
