Departmental Weekly Update
Weekly Summary

  • The Department launched our updated website this week at www.nsfire.org. Many thanks to Kerry Wenzel, KateLynn Harrigan, Donna Flint and Tyler Vahsholtz for their work on this project along with our vendor CivicPlus!
  • The Department is happy to announce we are the recipient of nearly $400,000 in federal grant funding for replacement of vehicle exhaust systems in all five fire stations. The current systems are nearly 15 years old and the Department is beginning to incur high repair costs to maintain them.
  • Three hundred sixty five responses to the Department's Community Based Strategic Plan Survey were received. Thank you to everyone who participated! The input received is being analyzed and readied for the next step in development of our updated strategic plan.
  • North Shore Firefighters are participating in inter-agency training for the next two weeks. Firefighters from Departments across the County are training together on standardization of skills to ensure greater efficiency and effectiveness when Departments operate together.
  • Applicants for Fire Lieutenant promotions took the written examination portion of the testing process this week.
