Why It Matters
NS Unite has responded to feedback since its inception in 2021. And this year is no different. We recently conducted our 2026 survey looking for ways to improve. At first glance, collecting survey data might seem easy. It’s just asking questions and typing down answers, right? But surveys can actually be complicated. Data analysis is a crucial step in getting it right.
Our non-profit group, NS Unite, is made up of residents who care deeply about preserving North Summit's unique culture. We want to build a vision for our future that comes from the community itself. That’s why, when you share your thoughts with us, we truly see it as a gift.
From partnering with the Smithsonian and Utah Humanities to preserve our rural heritage, to hosting outdoor movies, celebrating the Latino community with Fiesta Fridays, having book reviews with local authors, creating artwork portraying railroad history, and sponsoring community theatre and regional news, NS Unite has positively impacted our communities. But now our organization wants to focus on what matters most.
Here Are the Survey Results
NS Unite received a four-star rating from our survey-takers, and the data also revealed the top reasons to engage with our content. People who responded were asked to rank, in order of importance, the events and activities that our non-profit sponsored and embraced over the years. We look at it as our report card. Here are your answers:

Your Top Three Responses
-
Community Theatre: We're happy to report that this ranked number one in our survey. With a passion for theatre, acting, art, and music, the NS Unite Board supported our first local community theatre production, Cinderella by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It was held last September and featured local actors, singers, dancers, and musicians. Residents are already asking about what's happening this year.
-
Events Calendar: Local events are a big deal in the smaller communities of North Summit. One Excellent way to find out what's happening is to host a webpage with a calendar of upcoming events. Our board plans to put more effort into our website listing details of what's happening in the communities of North Summit. We'll keep you posted on our progress.
-
Local News: Last year, NS Unite introduced the inaugural edition of North Summit News, a valuable resource for informing residents about area events, happenings, and history. We now have more than 7,600 subscribers. By keeping residents informed through our newsletter, we hope to foster a sense of community.
More on Survey Results from Our Board President, Anita Lewis
Anita was born and raised in Upton, Utah, and developed a passion for heritage and culture while growing up on her family's farm. After working for Summit County Government for 30 years, she got involved and helped found the NS Unite non-profit organization. She's always looking for ways of linking the past with the future in the small towns of North Summit County. "NS Unite is involved in a lot of events, and there are still those who don't know what we do," said Anita Lewis, Board President. "I want to know what our citizens expect from us; conducting surveys is a great way to find out."
She's always said, "Come to us with an idea, and let's make it happen!" That's what NS Unite has always been about: the fostering of ideas. This passion for community involvement, coupled with historic preservation and the arts, has produced well-attended local events. Anita and the board also wish to continue using survey data to focus on what matters most as the nonprofit moves forward successfully.

From Classroom to Boardroom: How a High Schooler is Shaping Youth Engagement
Hazel Robbins Brings Student Perspective to North Summit Unite’s Board of Directors

Hazel Robbins, a North Summit High School student, first got involved with NS Unite when Lynn Wood (now an Honorary Board Member) asked her to join during the Smithsonian's visit to Coalville. She's now the recipient of a scholarship for high school juniors and seniors pursuing the arts after graduation. Miss Robbins wants to become a band teacher eventually and will likely attend one of Utah's universities; she has her eyes on Southern Utah University, Utah Technical College, and Utah State University.
Hazel's love of the arts began when she learned that both her mom and older sister had played wind instruments. Hazel now plays the saxophone and the mellophone. She's also a member of both bands at North Summit High. But what's truly remarkable is that she's also a member of the award-winning Ogden High School Marching Band. She joined it after a failed attempt to charter a marching band at North Summit High. She considers playing in the band a way to express herself.
In a recent interview with North Summit News, Hazel's mom, Camellia, revealed that Hazel is so driven that she has won recognition for being a rodeo queen and in her marching band. She has also spent a summer working for the Rockport Reservoir State Park to earn money for all of her band and musical theatre activities, which are pictured below.

More About Hazel
Whether she’s performing, teaching, or supporting others, the arts are at the heart of her life. Outside of music, Hazel values time with her family and loves making memories together on vacations, exploring new places, and enjoying simple moments. Her life blends creativity, connection, and adventure. With all this experience, Hazel serves as an advisor to the NS Unite Board of Directors, attends all their meetings, and helps with the organization's events.
