NOTE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, GINGER JOHNSON, Q3 2024

10 YEARS!

"10 years! The month of June 2024 has been spent celebrating our community for the support we have received over the last 41 years and specifically the past decade.

On June 1, 2014, Abigail’s Arms completed a multi-year campaign to fund and build a safe space for victims of violence in Cooke County. Since that date we have sheltered 1,651 individuals. Our average length of stay for a client is 30-45 days, with some staying days or weeks and others staying several months as they navigate how to re-build their lives. That equates to just over 63,000 nights of safety and over 70,000 individual services for these families.

Over the last 41 years Abigail’s Arms has grown to provide multiple services to our community. Through the Agency’s five core programs, Emergency Shelter, Child Advocacy Center (CAC), Crime Victim Services and Support, Sexual Assault Interagency Team (SAIF Team) and the Victim Outreach and Community Education (VOCE) programs, Abigail’s Arms strives to provide support and hope to those in our community whose lives have been devastated by crime. With the work of one of our wonderful volunteers, Shirley Newton, we have an agency history that is now available (here). Throughout this history you can see volunteers and community members who have stepped into this space and are all an integral part of who Abigail’s Arms is today.”
