Will Stinson named center director at North Texas
Previously served center as deputy center director

Will Stinson has been named the new center director of North Texas Job Corps Center. Stinson began in his new role as center director on Sept. 20. Stinson, who has worked at North Texas Job Corps since 2014, previously served as director of administration and as deputy center director. Under his guidance and leadership, the center has shown steady improvement in performance and outcomes.

Stinson attended Mercyh urst University in Erie, PA, on a basketball scholarship and graduated from there with a degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management.

He previously worked at the Springdale Job Corps Center in Troutdale, OR, serving as the finance and administration director.

"I am proud to serve as center director at North Texas Job Corps," Stinson said. "This center has great students and staff who are starving for strong leadership. I look forward to providing that leadership to propel our center upward in the OMS rankings."

Stinson emphasized the importance of quality education and career training programs at NTJCC, saying, "I envision a center that provides our students with excellent training, making them the most employable young people in the region. We'll do this by challenging our young people to be great. We will engage our students to be active in the learning process and encourage them when things get rough. In addition to engagement and encouragement we will empower them to be successful in life. Our foundation for this will be Job Corps basics: be on time, be in uniform, be respectful, and practice good personal hygiene. Our students will rise to the occasion as we raise our standards for them."
North Texas Job Corps celebrates Y2Y Week
Holds a full week of special activities

North Texas Job Corps celebrated a full week of activities to mark the Youth2Youth/Partners 4 Peace Week Sept. 18-22, with a special theme for each day that emphasized non-violence, unity and respect.

On Monday, Sept. 18, the center focused on the theme of "washing away bullying" with a foam party in an inflatable pool. What a great way to celebrate the peace students and staff are creating on center!

Tuesday, Sept. 19, the center emphasized the importance of "all students working together as a team" with a carnival featuring a number of challenging games. Students all wore t-shirts reflecting the day's theme.

Wednesday, Sept. 20, students and staff celebrated the theme of "unity" with their "Open Mic" night, where students shared their thoughts of peace and unity through the spoken word, songs, poetry, rap and more.

The Peace Walk on Thursday, Sept. 21, featured students, wearing the NJCC's "Pause, Not Claws" t-shirts, completing the one-mile Peace Walk in support of the International Day of Peace.

North Texas Job Corps concluded its Y2Y Week with a movie day in the gym to give students a much needed break from their hard work as they pursue their education and job training goals.
