INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 11 – North United Methodist Church's calendar is full of special events for the holidays. The public is invited to attend all of them at the church, which is located at 3808 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, on the corner of 38th and Meridian Streets.

On Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. the church will hold a Thanksgiving eve service featuring special music by the Indianapolis Children's Choir. The offering that night will go to the Mid-North Food Pantry. The service will also be livestreamed. The livestream can be accessed from the home page of the church's website at NorthChurchIndy.com.

On Sunday, Dec. 4 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. North will host its annual Advent Festival. It will be an evening of singing carols; lighting Christmas trees in the courtyard; enjoying a meal, live music and some animal guests, and doing a mission project. Please RSVP to Events@NorthChurchIndy.com by Nov. 30 for this free event so there is an accurate head count for food.

Recognizing that the holidays can be difficult for many, the church will offer a "Longest Night" service on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. in its chapel. This simple service of song, scripture, and prayer will acknowledge the gift of letting go, and celebrate the gift of holding fast to hope.

North will offer three services on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The 5 p.m. service is specifically designed for children and families. Communion will be offered at the 7:30 p.m. service. The 10:30 p.m. service is entitled "A Festival of Lessons and Carols." The latter will be livestreamed.

North's Sunday morning worship services are held at 8:30 and 11 a.m., but there will be just one service at 11 a.m. on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Communion will be celebrated at the latter. Each Sunday the 11 a.m. service is livestreamed on the church's YouTube channel, which can be accessed through the home page of NorthChurchIndy.com.

Other holiday events are scheduled for all age groups. The public is invited to participate or simply visit the church during the holidays, when its more than 100 nativity sets will be on display.
