President's Message

Hello Federation Friends!

This past weekend 20 members from our North West District attended our 125th GFWC Georgia Convention and it was so much FUN! We were given the choice to wear “Hugger” or “nonHugger” bracelets for those who were still practicing Safe Six, but I will say that there was a “whole lotta huggin going on” and it felt wonderful! We were so excited to see and visit with each other.

If you missed this weekend, I hope that you try to attend Institute in August. In the meantime, I will try to bring you up to speed by including a few photos, videos and Institute documents in this newsletter.

First, please join me in congratulating our 2020 State Award Winners! Atlanta Woman's Club,Calhoun Woman's Club, Cartersville Woman's Club, Dunwoody Woman's Club, LaFayette Woman's Club, Marietta Woman's Club! And BRAVO to our friends at Dunwoody Woman's Club for winning the ultimate FEDERATED Cup!! You ladies Rock!!

In closing, our State's Institute is scheduled to take place on August 20-22 at Unicoi State Park & Lodge. Please try to join us - you will learn a lot, meet new friends, and have fun in the process! The call is scheduled to go out in July. Stay tuned.

Also, the GFWC Convention will be held on August 27-30 at the Marriott Marquis Downtown Atlanta. Please RSVP via the Membership portal - please visit: www.gfwc.org.

North West District President 2020-2022

MaryAnn Lipscomb visited with us at Convention. Here’s a 15 minute video of Mrs. MaryAnn Lipscomb - she made some of us shed a tear or two. MaryAnn was played by Libba Beachum. Libba who works at the North East Georgia History Museum and loves to perform "living history" re-enactments - she was fantastic! Click the video below.

Our Past Presidents, State Officers, District Presidents and District members were charged with the challenge of putting on a talent show. Each group came up with their own skits, dances and some members sang songs - a great time was had by all for sure. Here's a few photos and videos. Click the video below.

Junior Fun Night - Federation Got Talent Show

Ladies we've got the best 1st VP in Julie Bates. She coordinated 20 members to do a little Tree dance, thank you taking charge Julie. Also thank you to our NW members for being good sports - I was so surprised! Click the video below.

I also want to thank Marietta Woman's Club for hosting the NW District After Party on Saturday night - we stayed up to 1:30 in the morning! Poor Joyce had a broken ankle and had to scoot around on Ruthann's scooter, but she was a trooper and it all worked out. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of you.
