Our current 2VP Julie Bates reminded us that there is a huge shortage of surgical masks for health care providers. Julie learned from her friend in Albany, Georgia that they need 200,000 masks to keep up with the demand. The hospital, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital advised that they have reported 40 cases of COVID-19 just yesterday. As of today, it was reported that Albany is considered a hot spot for the virus.
Phoebe Putney has distributed this information for those who are interested in making masks.
If you want to help fight this disease, we are asking our club members to make masks. If you sew you can make these masks and have them shipped directly to Melissa at the below address and she will deliver to the health care workers at the hospital.

If you do not sew, you can purchase material online or call your fabric store to place an order, pay for it and ask them to have it ready for pickup. We are told that Joanne's will do curbside pickup. Make this a family service project, you and your family can cut out the masks and send it to someone who sews or you can send to Julie Bates at 765 Cheatham Hill Trail SW, Marietta, GA 30064.
