As the Village of Northbrook begins a series of leadership transitions brought on by senior staff retirements, residents and business owners will find some of those positions filled by familiar faces. Case in point: Michaela Kohlstedt, Deputy Director of Development & Planning Services, officially takes over as Director of that department on February 1 following the retirement of Tom Poupard.

Preparations are underway for the 2021 Northbrook Community Resource Guide, one of the best marketing benefits of Chamber membership! The colorful and informative Community Guide is direct-mailed to over 16,500 residences and businesses in Northbrook, with thousands more copies distributed at high-traffic locations around the Village throughout the year. Advertising is available only to members in good standing. For information, email Gail Eisenberg.

Businesses and residents received encouraging news on two fronts in the past week. First, as of Saturday, suburban Cook County qualified for relaxed “Tier 1” mitigation rules, allowing limited indoor dining, small group gatherings, and indoor fitness classes among other things. Then, on Monday the state progressed to Phase 1b of its vaccine distribution plan, making essential workers as well as individuals over age 65 eligible to receive COVID vaccines.
