Cuyahoga County to Reappraise All Residential Properties in 2024


Every six years, state law requires counties to reassess the values of all properties, which could affect how much residents and business owners will pay in property tax. Cuyahoga County’s review of 522,000 properties will last until April 30, 2024, according to a news release from the county.


The county is required to notify property owners if their property value has changed at least 30 days before tax bills are issued.


This comes after the Greater Cleveland has seen record property value increases since Covid. On average, the medium home prices have increased 33% since the pandemic.


As you'll see above, some areas of the county are seeing increases well above 50%. What will this mean? This will lead to an increase in property taxes for most property owners.


What can you do about it? You have the opportunity to dispute any tax increases. There is a limited timeframe on this (the end of March in Cuyahoga County)
