From the District Office: Requests for Seminary Grads or Vicars


Is Your Congregation Seeking to Request a Seminary Graduate or Vicar for Spring 2025 Placement? If Yes, READ BELOW:


If your congregation is interested in requesting a Graduate Candidate from either of the Seminaries, or a Vicar, your request will need to be sent to Michelle La Velle (michelle.lavelle@nidlcms.org or 708-223-3101) at the District Office by December 2, 2024. Once your request is received, additional information will be sent to you.  

Planning to bring a group to the 2025 LCMS Youth Gathering? 


We’d love to connect with you! Join us during our open office hours on Zoom, Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. 


This will be a great chance to introduce yourself, hear updates from your District Coordinators, and get important details about the All Illinois District Event. Feel free to pop in anytime during the window and stay as long as it fits your schedule.

61st Convention of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod


The 61st Convention will be held Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, 2025 at Concordia University Chicago. Delegate forms and information are now available. We are asking that delegate forms be returned by October 31, 2024.


Called Commissioned workers, those on Candidate status, and those called to RSOs: You are also required to register to attend as an advisory non-voting delegate. Have your home congregation pastor sign off on the delegate form.

Youth Lock-In


St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9035 Grant Avenue, Brookfield, IL 60513 is hosting a Lock-In November 22-23, 2024. This overnight lock-in is designed for confirmation-aged youth to come together, connect with one another, and deepen their faith. There will be plenary speakers, group discussions, worship, meals, and of course, fun games and group activities for everyone to enjoy! Limit registration to 50 students. Each group must include a chaperone, who must also register.


This event is free for all attendees thanks to the generous support of volunteer members here at St. Paul's. Instead of a registration fee, we ask that you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to our Thanksgiving food drive.

Created Male and Female Parent Retreat


You are invited to participate in the LCMS retreat for parents of children who have experienced difficulties related to sexual orientation and gender identity. The retreat will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m., ending Saturday April 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The location is just west of Wickenburg, Arizona at Standing Stones Retreat Center, home to Shepherd's Canyon Retreat Ministry. This will be a small and private event.


You are asked for a $150 contribution that will serve as your deposit, and for you to cover your travel expenses to Arizona. All of the other expenses during the retreat - lodging, meals, speakers, therapist, and chaplain - are being covered by the LCMS Office of National Mission.

POTITIONS AVAILABLE

Part-time dinner shift position: Redeeming Life Outreach Ministries' maternity home in East Dundee, IL is seeking a mature Christian woman for a part-time dinner shift position. We would ask her to be responsible for the evening operation of the household three evenings per week (3:30-7:30pm). This includes oversight of the family dinner meal and supervision of evening chores. The position will involve cooking for our residents, but no cooking expertise is necessary. Director of Admissions & Enrollment: Apply by 11/30, start by 12/16 St. James is a Lutheran Elementary School (grades PreK - 8th grade) located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.

They are seeking a full-time employee (12 months) to be the Director of Admissions/Enrollment. Applicants must be physically and emotionally healthy, poised, punctual, and enthusiastic. They must be willing and able to promote an environment in which God’s love in Christ is shared with students, teachers, staff, parents, and all who participate in the school’s community. They must communicate effectively and work well with others. In addition, they should demonstrate an ability to articulate the mission, vision, and spiritual beliefs of St. James, as well as adhere to all policies and procedures.


Assistant Principal: St. James is a vibrant and growing Lutheran Elementary School (grades PreK - 8th grade) located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. They are seeking a full-time employee to be the Assistant Principal. Applicants must be physically and emotionally healthy, poised, punctual, and enthusiastic. They must be willing and able to promote an environment in which God’s love in Christ is shared with students, teachers, staff, parents, and all who participate in the school’s community. They must communicate effectively and work well with others. In addition, they should demonstrate an ability to articulate the mission, vision, and spiritual beliefs of St. James, as well as adhere to all policies and procedures.
