The Parish Professionals will gather for their next meeting on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Our host will be Harry Grimes at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter St, Downers Grove, IL 60515. We will gather at 11:30 a.m. and continue our discussion on The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry (pages 61-99). 

Communicators & Admission Directors February 2025 Meeting

Please join us for our next NID Communicators and Admission Directors Group gathering! This will be a Zoom meeting, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Topic: Ronda Swingle will lead our time on General Marketing Best Practices. Ronda is a Graphic Designer with over 30 years of experience. She has locally assisted Cross Lutheran Church, Yorkville with marketing their last 2 capital campaigns, helped Faith Lutheran Church, Lake Forest with their Faith on the Fairway promotions for the last 2 years, created a logo for St. Matthew, Lemont's 150 year anniversary, and most recently redesigned Voice of Care's logo (to be unveiled very soon).

2025 Illinois Pro-Life March

This year’s Illinois Pro-Life March will again be held in Springfield, Illinois on March 25, 2025. Plan now to join thousands of others celebrating life! At approximately 2:00 p.m. the March itself will be held on a several-block-long route around the Capitol building. 

All-Illinois District Event to be held in New Orleans during the National Youth Gathering

The three Illinois Districts of the LCMS are thrilled to once again come together for a special all-Illinois District Event in New Orleans on July 20, 2025, sponsored by Concordia University Chicago. We invite you to join us for an exclusive early access event at the Superdome, ahead of the Mass Event on Sunday evening.

Your ticket includes an All-Illinois District t-shirt, a dinner meal voucher, entertainment, giveaways, and prime seating for the Mass Event later that evening. If you prefer, t-shirts can also be purchased separately from the event ticket.

Wednesday, August 6, 2025 is the date set for the fall Back-to-School Worship service and keynote. Mark your calendars now, so you will be with us when we gather at St. Andrews in Park Ridge. Watch for more details in the future.

Save the Date: The Katie Event

The Katie Event is an annual opportunity for LCMS Northern Illinois District pastors' wives and widows to gather for a day of fellowship and learning.

The planning committee for The Katie is currently working toward securing a speaker and determining all of the details of the day. However, we wanted to give you the opportunity to get this year's date on your calendar now.

We hope you will be able to join us on Saturday, October 4, 2025!

If you have never attended The Katie before, please consider it. If you know of other pastors' wives or widows who have not yet attended, encourage them to do so! There will be many more details to come.

150th Anniversary Celebration

St. John's Lutheran Church, 4939 W. Montrose, Chicago, IL 60641 is celebrating its 150th anniversary Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. with a hymn festival celebrating the musical contributions of Lutheran musicians from Chicago. 

Dr. Steven Wente, Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Organist Laureate at Concordia University Chicago, will serve as the guest organist. Rev. Stephen Starke, former pastor of St. John's and accomplished Lutheran hymn author, will provide commentary.

They will also debut an anniversary hymn with text by Rev. Starke and a musical setting by St. John's music teacher, Mrs. Katrina Jurica.

LWML Lenten Inspiration

Join your Sisters in Christ for a time of Bible Study, music, inspiration, and entertainment, Saturday, March 22, 2025, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Rd., Hampshire, IL 60140. The theme is "Take My Life and Let It Be". Please register online before March 14, 2025.

The Gathering 2025!

St John's Lutheran Church is thrilled to announce The Gathering 2025! This is for ALL youth 8th-12th grades.

When: Friday night April 25, 2025 and all-day Saturday April 26, 2025, Beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and ending at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday

Theme: Something Better (Hebrews 11: 40) 

Where: St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union, IL 60180. 

Join us for three worship sessions throughout the weekend with big music worship from a full live worship band, powerful messages in each session, prayer stations, break out classes on Saturday morning, a service project, all meals on Saturday provided and a late-night outdoor DJ and bonfire. $25.00 per person for whole weekend.

Free Ukrainian resources for sharing the Gospel

The Lutheran Heritage Foundation (a recognized service organization of the LCMS) has just gotten a huge shipment of books carrying two FREE new resources available in Ukrainian, including the classic children's Bible storybook A Child's Garden of Bible Stories and Best of Portals of Prayer. These materials are available to any LCMS church, mission or individual who wants to share the Good News with their Ukrainian-speaking neighbors.
