December 2025 Communications Theme:

Congregations: the frontline of ministry

At the heart of our District, congregations are the front line of ministry. It is in our churches, schools, and local communities where the Gospel is proclaimed, people are baptized, sins are forgiven, and neighbors are served in Christ’s name. Each congregation is uniquely placed

by God—whether in the heart of the city, in suburban neighborhoods, or in rural communities—to be a light to the world. They paint a picture of faith, alive and active: congregations strengthened by Word and Sacrament, united in service, and walking together in mission. While each ministry context is different, we are bound together in Christ. And together, we are stronger together.

Hearts for Jesus 2025-2026

This year’s Hearts for Jesus focus begins with a mission to renew and strengthen the Vacation Bible School program in Seine Bight, Belize — helping share the Living Hope we have in Jesus!

Together, we get to be good neighbors, serve with joy, and connect the community with the mission. In Seine Bight, every day is a walk in Word, Wellness, and Witness—where Jesus is always at the center.

Watch the video below to see how your support helps bring energy and hope to this ministry!

Shine 2026

With the considerable number of events happening around us, it feels as if SHINE! 2025 took place in the distant past. Actually, it’s been just a couple of months since we participated in SHINE! Here’s a brief look back at the service to our communities through SHINE! 2025. It’s not too early to begin making plans for your service projects for SHINE! 2026, scheduled for April 10-19, 2026. We can’t wait to see how God continues to use His people in the LCMS Northern Illinois District to share His love in our communities!

Save the Date - NID Belize Mission Trip

The dates for the 2026 NID Belize mission trip are June 13-20, 2026. This year's goal is to have 25 people to share the love of our Savior with our friends in Seine Bight. If interested, contact Ellen.
