219 Families Blessed by Membership Assistance Fund
On behalf of the families who have been assisted during this very tough time, we want to acknowledge and thank our group of compassionate givers! Together, they have donated $18,010 – a true blessing for those in need!

Because of the 100 percent matching gift of $18,010 to date (bringing the total amount raised to $36,020), we will have been able to give $21,900 to 219 members in 25 NCC churches.

Now, as Californians experience a second shutdown, the most vulnerable among our fellowship of believers will be the most impacted. After seeking God’s guidance, please consider giving to the Membership Assistance Fund before the matching gift timeline ends on July 31!
NCC Headquarters Closed
Due to recent state and county guidance, the Northern California Conference office is closed until further notice. The Adventist Book Center, located in the building, remains open during its regularly scheduled hours. NCC employees will continue working from home. Find contact info at nccsda.com/contact-us .

Happy 100th Birthday!
Happy birthday to two centenarian friends – both members of the Sacramento Woodside church!

Mabel Nelson was born in Oklahoma on July 2, 1920. As a small child, she moved with her family to Texas in a covered wagon. In addition to raising two daughters and a son, she worked as a manager for the San Juan School District. She and her husband, John, loved riding their motorcycles and dune buggy. She has always been a hard worker and enjoys gardening, her fruit trees, and her family.

Richard West was born in Connecticut on Feb. 5, 1920. He was a teacher and later a statistician and research analyst for the State of California. He has four children and three stepchildren. A charter member of the Woodside church, he has served as elder, deacon, librarian, and head of grounds upkeep. He loves to share God’s Word and encourages all to dig deeper for a clear understanding of the message.
At Rest
Mark Dalton passed away on May 22. He was the husband of Marilee Dalton, former teaching principal at Yreka Adventist Christian School.

Mark served as a pastor and youth pastor at churches and schools throughout the United States and as a junior high teacher in California. For several years he set up financial operations and construction processes for Maranatha Volunteers International in India. Please keep Marilee and their family in your prayers as we look forward to the resurrection! Watch his memorial service at the Gracepoint church.
Retirements
Dr. Del Dunavant , NCC church growth/evangelism director, has retired after more than 44 years of service. During his career, he pastored in the Pleasant Hill, Paradise, Magalia, Stockton, and Santa Rosa churches; taught at various Adventist colleges and universities, including the SDA Theological Seminary; and trained pastors around the world in church growth. He also served for years as director of NCC Sabbath School ministries. Many know his wife, Mary Ellen, from her work at the Pleasant Hill ABC. In January, NCC administrators and pastors paid tribute to the couple at the winter pastors’ retreat at Leoni Meadows. The Dunavants have moved to Texas for their retirement.

“I know that many will be in the Kingdom because of Del’s lifelong passion for evangelism and church growth,” said President Marc Woodson. “He and Mary Ellen have positively impacted an untold number of lives.”
Pastor Larre Kostenko recently retired after more than 40 years of ministry. Since 2008, he served as pastor of the Oroville/Golden Feather district. Prior to that, he pastored the Sutter Hill/San Andreas district. Before coming to the NCC, he served in the Upper Columbia, Dakota, and North Dakota conferences. Church members greatly appreciated his ministry and that of his wife, Connie, who passed away early this year.

“Larre leaves a legacy of unselfish service and a firm commitment to the Adventist church,” said Ministerial Director Jim Lorenz. “May the Lord richly bless him during his retirement in Idaho.”
