The Tunnel
A Devotional Thought
Imagine a train. You are on it. Look out the large picture windows. The sun is bright as it shines down on God’s glorious natural landscape. Suddenly it’s dark. The wind rushes past the darkened window. What do you do? What do you think? Do you jump off the train? Do you worry that the darkness will last?

The drastic change is startling to say the least, but soon you realize the train just entered a tunnel. You relax because of your trust in the engineer to take you safely through it. In time, depending on the length of the tunnel, you see the bright sun again.

Right now, it feels like we are in a tunnel, but the Bible reminds us Who is in control. “Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:3). “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (Proverbs 30:5). “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
