Update from NLC Key 3
We would like to welcome all our Youth, Families, and Scouters to the new Scouting Year 2021 - 2022. Registration for 2022 is starting off very well in NLC; after only 3 days we have over 850 youth registered for upcoming Scouting adventures.
While the new year is still not going to quite look like the traditional Scouting year, it will be a lot closer than last year. Our Sections are actively meeting, camping, and enjoying the Scouting program. Many Groups kept meeting throughout the summer months and have a lot of momentum moving forward. We would like to thank all of our Scouters and Families in their efforts to provide adventures for our Youth during the summer and over the last year.
As Scouts Canada is still in a declared Pandemic situation, we have the following requirements to follow:
Vaccination Requirement for All Members
At Scouts Canada, we believe the health and safety of our youth and adult members is priority #1, and a responsibility for all to share. As of November 1st, 2021, full vaccination will be required for all in-person Scouting activities across the country. More details are available here: https://bit.ly/399orFb
Government of Alberta COVID-19 Public Health Actions
With the new Alberta Health Services (AHS) temporary health measures that have been announced this week we are sure that you will have questions. Northern Lights Council will remain in Scouts Canada’s “Return to Scouting Stage 4” to match up with the new AHS rules.
It is very important that Groups ensure that Safety and COVID protocols are in place and followed. It is important that a parent or guardian of a youth must screen a youth for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the youth participating in indoor youth activities in accordance with the COVID-19, Alberta Health Daily Checklist (for children under the age of eighteen). The checklist is available here: https://www.alberta.ca/assets/documents/edc-covid-19-screening-questionaire-english.pdf
