National Headlines Vs New Jersey

You may have seen the national headlines saying the housing market is slowing down, even across the Northeast. These broad reports in no way reflect what's happening here. If you’ve been following these updates or even just paying attention in your own neighborhood, you already know that.

Demand has not gone away, and home prices have continued to rise. Even with new construction and building activity, there still isn’t enough housing to meet the demand in many parts of Northern New Jersey.

If you’re buying, strategy matters. How you search and how you structure your offer can make a big difference. Finding something off market through a connection can be a huge advantage in this type of market. I would also say don't let the mortgage rates dictate when you should make a move.

For sellers, understanding your home value and your equity is key to sorting out your next steps. If you plan to stay in New Jersey, and need to sell to buy, keep in mind that prices moving down would your home will also sell for less. To sell in NJ and buy in one of these down market states, I think, is a great opportunity.
