Dear Families,
It’s an exciting time at Northley! Our students are already showing school pride in the classroom, on the field, and through leadership opportunities. We’re proud of the positive energy this fall and look forward to keeping you connected with what’s happening here at Northley.
Homecoming Week
We are now gearing up for Homecoming and Spirit Week, which runs from September 29 to October 3. Spirit Week will feature fun theme days:
-
Moving Monday – Wear sneakers and sweats for the Walk-A-Thon, and wear yellow to support Childhood Cancer Awareness.
-
Tropical Tuesday – Show off your best Hawaiian print shirt to say goodbye to summer.
-
Wacky Wednesday – Mismatched socks, mismatched clothes, or a funny (and appropriate) graphic T-shirt.
-
Jersday Thursday – Wear a jersey to support your favorite team. Even better if it’s a Northley one.
-
Friday Night Lights – Show your Vanguard pride in blue and gold.
To kick off the week, we will hold a PBIS Walk-A-Thon on Monday, September 29. Students are encouraged to bring cash donations to their homeroom teachers between September 22 and 29. Grade-level teams will compete in a Blue vs. Gold challenge, and the team that raises the most will earn a reward. As an added bonus, any student who donates five dollars or more will have the chance to kick a field goal on the Sun Valley football field.
Fire Drill
We held our first fire drill of the school year. Students took it seriously and did an excellent job moving quickly and quietly. Practicing these routines is key to keeping everyone safe and ensuring that, in the event of a real emergency, we can respond immediately and effectively.
National School Parent Group Day
We celebrated National School Parent Group Day, and we’re proud to recognize our incredible PTL. Their support for both students and staff is felt daily. To show appreciation, students created thoughtful thank-you cards, and our staff designed a Northley word cloud filled with words like supportive, energetic, dedicated, and thoughtful. We are truly grateful for everything our PTL does.
Middle School Home Games
Our fall sports season is underway, and we can’t wait to see the stands packed with Northley fans. Come cheer on our athletes and show your school pride. We encourage loud and positive support, but also remind everyone that respectful and responsible behavior makes the games enjoyable for all.
Sports Pictures
Sports team pictures will take place on Friday, October 3rd, from 8:30–11:30 a.m. Students should come prepared in uniform and bring any equipment needed for their team photo.
Student Council Information Meeting
Student Council is one of the best ways for students to build leadership skills, meet new people, and make a real impact in our school. Flyers have been shared with details about the upcoming Information Day. Encourage your child to stop by and see how they can get involved.
8th Grade Hayride
The always-popular 8th grade hayride is coming up soon. Information was sent home with students this week. Please check with your child, review the details, and make sure the signed permission slip is returned on time so they don’t miss out.
Flu Clinic Canceled
The flu clinic originally scheduled will not take place. We know many families rely on this service each year, so please be sure to plan ahead and connect with your healthcare provider or local pharmacy if your child still needs a flu shot.
Safe2Say Something
The Safe2Say program is an important tool available to all students. It allows them to report safety concerns or let us know if someone needs help—completely confidentially. Please remind your child that using Safe2Say is a positive way to look out for themselves and others, and helps keep our school safe. Here is the link: Safe2Say
Northley continues to be a place where students grow, lead, and shine. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community, we couldn’t do it without your support. Let’s keep the momentum going!
