Calvary needs someone who can fulfill basic pastoral duties like leading worship on Sunday mornings, moderating Session meetings and making pastoral care visits. I feel honored that they have asked me to do this during this time while they lack regular pastoral leadership.
I have worked closely with the leadership of both congregations to ensure that my duties at Calvary will not interfere with any of my duties at Northminster. I will not only remain your pastor at Northminster, but I will remain as your full-time pastor as I continue to do all the things I do now. I also applaud the leadership of both congregations for doing all they can to ensure that my new duties do not overwhelm me and that I will not only have enough time to fulfill all my pastoral duties, but fulfill them with the same vigor and energy I have now.
While space in this newsletter does not allow me to write about all the details of this new chapter in my ministry, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about it. For now, I want to close my remarks with three things. First, you can have complete confidence that you are in good hands with your Session at Northminster, who have joined me not only in praying about this, but in thinking carefully about it. Second, I know I speak for the entire Session and all parties involved when I say we all believe this to be a win-win arrangement for both congregations. Finally, I sincerely hope you will pray for me and both congregations as we begin this new and exciting chapter together.
