Dear Northway Church,

Just before Christmas of 2007, I called my friend and former colleague Phil Anderson. At that time, he was the Family Life Minister at First Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, a place he’d served for 15 years. We had a good conversation about the possibility of joining our staff in the area of adult discipleship. The next month, Phil and Penny interviewed with our Personnel and Lead Ministry Teams. At the end of those conversations, we all sensed that this was the Lord’s leading. In April of 2008, Phil moved to Macon and began serving as the Connections Pastor at Northway...

I am excited to let you know that this Sunday, March 5, Dr. O.S. Hawkins will be preaching in both worship services at Northway. Dr. Hawkins is the Senior Advisor and Ambassador at Large for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He is the former pastor of the historic First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, and is President Emeritus of GuideStone Financial Resources, the world’s largest Christian-screened mutual fund serving 250,000 church workers and Christian university personnel. 

Dr. Hawkins will be leading a pastor’s training conference at Northway on Monday, March 6 and has graciously agreed to speak at Northway this Sunday in worship. I know you will want to be present to hear him.

Your Home Teams will be discussing Chapter 6 of the Abraham study guide this coming week. Although the sermon this Sunday will not correlate with the chapter, you will find plenty of material in your book and questions to guide your discussion. As well, if your Home Team has missed a meeting due to conflicts, this will be a good week for your group to “catch up.”

On Sunday, March 12, we will return to our Abraham study and look at topic of prayer.

We are currently accepting nominations for our Deacon Ministry. To be eligible for this servanthood position, a man must be twenty-five years of age, a member of our church for at least one year, and meet biblical standards of 1 Timothy 3:8-13. All nominations are due by this Sunday, March 5.

We are so excited to celebrate Easter again this year with Easter Jam! Join us for a short family service with songs, games, and the Easter story. Then, we will have an egg hunt, crafts, inflatables, and games to follow (rain or shine).

This is a free event, but please register your family ahead of time!

Informational Meeting Sunday, March 19

Northway is excited to begin a new partnership with a church plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. Two years ago, the Lord led former Northway members, Jonathan and Mandie Howard, to plant this church under the leadership of the North American Mission Board. 

Bridge City Church launched a few months ago and are beginning the growth process. They have asked Northway to assist with leading a Vacation Bible School for the community the week of June 26. So, the trip will take place June 24 - July 1 and is open to those college age and up.
