As Northway Christian Church prepares to celebrate its 120th Anniversary on June 7, we look forward to a meaningful and beautiful time of worship, reflection, and gratitude. I would like to share with everyone some of the work that is going into the preparation for this special Sunday worship.
In honor of this milestone, the Worship Committee has commissioned a new set of paraments for the season of Ordinary Time. This set—created for the pulpit, lectern, and table—will be unveiled during our anniversary service. The addition of a parament for the table is new for our congregation and will bring a fresh expression of beauty and artistic depth to the chancel.
Artist Grace Cox-Johnson drew inspiration from the stunning stained glass above our chancel, incorporating its colors, imagery, and a mosaic-like technique into the designs. These paraments serve not only as liturgical furnishings but also as visual reminders of the rich heritage and faith that continue to shape our community.
In addition, the Chancel Choir will offer a special musical gift: an arrangement of Be Thou My Vision by our own Kelsey Reinhart, daughter of Roger and Karen Hohnstein. Kelsey originally composed this piece for her wedding as a gift to her husband, Andrew, and we are honored to share it together in worship.
I look forward to celebrating with all of you as we give thanks for our past, embrace our present, and look with hope toward the future.
