Earth Service Corps Spring Break Camp

Teens across the nation are being called to help make a difference in their communities.

The Northwest Arkansas Family YMCA is bringing the Y Earth Service Corps program to our region.

The Earth Service Corps is led by teens, 5th thru 8th grades, who want to make a difference locally and globally by creating volunteer projects to ensure a brighter future for everyone.

From leading recycling programs and

mentoring young children to establishing community gardens and participating in Y exchange programs.  The possibilities are endless and up to you!

Join us for a week of leadership skill building and exploring solutions to our environmental

challenges.  Fun experiments and daily

projects will kick start our Earth Service Corps program which will meet regularly throughout the year.  Don't miss out!  Be one of the founding members.

Traditional Archery Classes for All Ages

This centuries old sport is often described as the true "Sport of Kings".  Learning traditional archery can be magical as images of Robin Hood lead many to the bow and arrow.  It is often the drawing of a bow with your own muscle power and releasing a feathered arrow and hearing the whump! when the target is hit that gets you hooked.  Come learn the basics of this thrilling sport.

Basic I & II Traditional Archery classes will be offered this spring.  Classes will begin Monday, March 28th at an outdoor range on the main NWACC campus in Bentonville.  The 8 week classes will be held on Mondays, Basic I from 5:30 to 6:30p.m. and Basic II from 6:35 to 7:35p.m. both classes are for ages 7 years and up.

Participants must take Basic I or have traditional archery  experience before taking the Basic II class.  Parents of students may take the class at the same time as their child, instructors will divide students into groups based on age.  All equipment including safety gear will be provided.  The classes will be taught by USA Archery certified instructors.

The fee for the course is $25 for Y members and $40 for non-members.  The equipment rental fee is $30 and includes 6 arrows students will keep.  For more information or to register for classes, call 717-2460 or email jillhatfield@crowder.edu.  Class size is limited.
