New Member Highlight: Mine Survival, Inc.
Located in Panama City Beach, Mine Survival, Inc. (MSI) manufactures small, lightweight rebreathers. These rebreathers allow for voice communications and are used for rescue missions, self-escape, and high-rise breathing. Ascend Performance Materials Plant Tour
Sixty-three students and faculty members from Milton High School and Ernest Ward Middle School recently toured Ascend Performance Materials. These students are members of Milton’s Advanced Manufacturing Academy and Ernest Ward’s Fabrication and Engineering Program. Site Director John Johannemann, NWFMC board member, and a tour team greeted the students and guided them through a typical day in the manufacturing facility. Thanks to Ascend for giving these students a glimpse at a real-life manufacturing operation.

Overall, nearly 2,000 students are estimated to participate in manufacturing tours this fall. Take a look at the tour schedule to see a list of past and future tours.
Manufacturing Technician Competencies Survey
FloridaMakes, Polk State College (PSC), and the Florida Advanced Technological Education Center (FLATE) request your valuable participation in a short 15-minute survey. This survey is designed to define curriculum content of schools who are preparing a competent manufacturing workforce. Your feedback is appreciated and results will be shared when the data have been compiled. The survey will close on November 22, 2017.

New CPT Recipients
Megan Altman (left) and Emily Phillips, sophomores at Freeport High School, have completed their Certified Production Technician (CPT) certifications. Megan was the first female student to complete the CPT and was followed by Emily, her friend and classmate. Both Megan and Emily hope to continue their educations in manufacturing and engineering.
