Explore Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation

The Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation preserves and celebrates the rich aviation and transportation history of the tri-state region. The museum is a non-profit organization established in 1989 and in its current location since 2009.  Visitors can explore a wide variety of displays and exhibits of full-size aircraft and surface transportation from vintage automobiles to a Vietnam Huey helicopter. The museum also is home to the most complete exhibit of United Airlines Flight 232, a DC10 that crash landed at the airport in 1989. The most recent project includes renovating a FedEx Boeing 727 into a Learning Center to provide a unique space for STEM education and community activities.

The air museum is located at the northwest corner of the Sioux Gateway Airport on 15 acres in a 30,000 sq ft building at 2600 Expedition Court, Sioux City.   Contact Larry Finley, Executive Director at [email protected], or 712-252-5300 or Tim Seaman at [email protected] about your interests in working with the museum. The museum website is https://www.midamericaairmuseum.org.
