BATON ROUGE, LA. – Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC) was recently ranked as the sixth-best community college in America by Smart Asset. Each year, the financial technology company publishes its study on the country’s best community colleges. The rankings are based on analyzed data of 821 community colleges.
The colleges were compared across three metrics: student-to-faculty ratio, graduation and transfer rate, and cost of tuition and fees. Key findings in the study noted that student-to-faculty ratios in the community colleges across the top 10 of the study ranged from 9-13 students per faculty member, which potentially allows for more individualized opportunities for training.
The student-to-faculty ratio at NLTCC is 12 to 1. The college has the 21st best graduation rate of all 821 schools, and the cost of tuition and fees for two semesters is $2,976, which is within the lower thirtieth percentile of the study.
“We are so proud of this recognition because it is a direct reflection our college's team effort,” said Dr. Earl Meador, Chancellor. “It also highlights the commitment from our Board of Supervisors and System President to make access and affordability a top priority.”
