Families affected by rezoning being contacted through mail

If your family will be affected by the 2019-20 attendance boundary rezoning, expect to receive a letter in the mail in the coming days, if you haven't already. District officials have written letters explaining the boundary changes, which affect where students attend schools.
Kindergarten and pre-K roundups taking place week of April 28
Each year, Northwest ISD elementary schools host roundup events for incoming kindergarten and pre-K students to help them get acclimated to their new campuses. This year, schools will host these events the week of April 28, with the specific date selected by the campus.

Northwest Reads seeking volunteers for morning of April 26
Northwest ISD elementary schools will welcome guest readers from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, as part of Northwest Reads, and volunteers are now being sought. Participants will choose from a variety of books to read to pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students at one of the district's 18 elementary schools, which helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.

Kim Becan named executive director of elementary education
Kim Becan, current principal of Cox Elementary School, has been named the next executive director of elementary education for Northwest ISD, where she will oversee all elementary schools and their programs. Mrs. Becan will continue in her current role through the end of the school year, and the district will search for a new Cox campus leader.
Spring issue of district magazine now available
The spring issue of our district magazine, Northwest Navigator, is now available! Read about Byron Nelson volleyball player Paige Flickinger being named Gatorade's Texas Volleyball Player of the Year, Steele students earning associate degrees while still in high school, Justin students using VR thanks to a Northwest ISD Education Foundation grant and more.
