NISD Welcomed 18,900 Students Monday for In-Person Learning
After three weeks of online learning, students walked through school doors and into classrooms this week for the first time since March.

NISD began classes for the 2020-2021 school year last month with Remote Learning for all students.

On Monday, campuses opened to the 75 percent of students who chose In-Person Learning. About 6,400 students remained in Remote Learning throughout the district.

Northwest ISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in North Texas and has enrolled 3,465 new students this year.
Haslet Elementary Opens New Campus
Haslet Elementary opened the doors this week on a brand-new campus featuring an open concept library, collaborative learning spaces and room for 850 students.
The building was funded by Northwest ISD taxpayers in the 2017 Bond, moving the school about three miles southwest into the LeTara development. Previously, Haslet Elementary was housed in a building designed for 450 students near the site of the original 1879 schoolhouse.
The new school design features a mural that teaches students about various modes of transportation and incorporates elements that highlights and honors the history of Haslet Elementary.
Online Dashboard Shows Active Cases of COVID-19 in NISD
Northwest ISD’s COVID Reporting website provides families with one location to report information about COVID-19 and to view current data about COVID-19 cases in the district. You can also access the page through shortcuts from the NISD homepage and every campus homepage. Look for the button that says "COVID REPORTING."

The dashboard is interactive, reflects current data, and is updated several times throughout the day. The dashboard reflects COVID cases reported since Sept. 14 for NISD students and employees.
NISD Elementary and Middle School Students to Receive Free Meals
Beginning Monday, Northwest ISD Food Services will offer free breakfast and lunch to all NISD enrolled elementary and middle school students.

The USDA's Summer Meal program has been extended through December, which means NISD elementary and middle school students can pick up a breakfast or lunch meal at school for no charge, regardless of income or eligibility.

Because NISD high schools are not part of a federal nutrition program, high school students will continue to be charged according to their eligibility. The price for reduced breakfast is $.30 and reduced lunch is $.40. The price for paid breakfast is $1.35 and paid lunch is $2.75. Premium paid lunches are available for $3.95. High School students can qualify for free and reduced meals by completing an application and receiving approval for the Free or Reduced School Food Program. Applications are available online or paper applications are available from your school campus.
Support NISD Teachers and Students through North Texas Giving Day
There’s still time to participate in North Texas Giving Day, an 18-hour online giving event where community members are encouraged to support local nonprofit organizations.

Donations to the Northwest ISD Education Foundation (NEF) support district educators and students through teaching grants, scholarships for graduating seniors and district initiatives like the snack pack program.

This year, NEF is also partnering with the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs to provide mini grants to NISD campuses. When you make a donation through a campus FUNdraising page, your donation provides a mini grant for PTA to support students and teachers in a way that is meaningful to the campus community. Support your child’s campus with a gift today! Donation pages are open until midnight.
