You're invited to the Outdoor Learning Center's dedication ceremony
Outdoor Learning Center construction

Come learn about one of the most unique and innovative learning experiences for students in North Texas when we dedicate our new Outdoor Learning Center on Thursday, Oct. 20!

Dedication of the OLC, located at 7773 Mulkey Lane in Northlake, begins at 7 p.m., but guests are invited to explore the OLC's facilities and grounds beginning at 5 p.m. During this time, curriculum staff members will be on hand to answer questions. For those who would prefer to avoid walking, a trolley will be available to tour the grounds at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Following these times, the trolley will shuttle guests from the parking lot to the dedication site from 6:20-7 p.m.

The 192-acre learning environment features several structures designed to facilitate outdoor learning, including pavilions that accentuate the five distinct environments found at the OLC (windswept hilly terrain, grass prairie, Denton Creek bottomlands, dense forest and forest/prairie wetlands).

To see a map to the OLC from the Northwest ISD Stadium via U.S. 156, click here. To view a map via I-35, click here. The OLC is located off F.M. 407, as seen below.

Chisholm Trail students win STEM prizes at recent air show

Chisholm Trial Middle School students on Sheila Greene's STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - team walked away with the Silver Award in a contest to design weight-bearing cargo kits for quadcopters at the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show this past weekend!

Students in the contest had to demonstrate teamwork and creativity to complete the challenge, which judged teams based on their ability to fly increasingly large cargo through their designs. As a result of their win, Mrs. Greene's students each received a solar-powered rover kit.

Seen in the photo are, from left, Alyssa Kruder, Ava Blackburn, John Muths, Megan Muths and Anna Thornell.
