Facebook Live scheduled for December 15
Dr. Ryder Warren, superintendent of Northwest ISD, will host a Facebook Live video chat at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 15.

Dr. Warren will update NISD families before the end of the year regarding the district's considerable growth, the community support of NISD's Virtual Angel Tree and the current search for a new superintendent. During the live event, Dr. Warren will also acknowledge many district-wide first semester accomplishments.

Important December calendar dates
December is upon us, and Northwest ISD would like to remind you of several important calendar dates for the month.
Friday, December 17, is an early release day for all NISD schools.

Early Release Times:

Elementary Schools - 11:40 a.m.
Middle Schools - 12:50 p.m.
High Schools - 12:40 p.m.
Steele Accelerated HS and Special Programs Center - 12:30 p.m.
In addition, all NISD schools will be closed Monday, December 20, through Tuesday, January 4, for winter break. School will resume on Wednesday, January 5.
Volunteers needed for school cafeterias
Want to learn how to facilitate a food service line?
The Northwest ISD Food Services Department invites you to help serve student meals at various campuses across the district.

Currently, Samuel Beck Elementary and J. Lyndal Hughes Elementary School are being piloted before volunteer opportunities become available at additional schools across the district.

Please note that each volunteer must have a volunteer background check on file with the district!

In this edition of the Superintendent Report, Dr. Warren discusses how Northwest ISD addresses mental health among students and staff, recycling opportunities around NISD campuses and various communication methods currently being utilized by the district.
Holiday Extravaganza event offered for young learners
NISD Parents as Teachers Program invites families with infants, toddlers and preschool age children to their December developmental play group Holiday Extravaganza on Friday, December 3. Families may drop by the open house any time between 9 a.m. and noon to play fun games, make holiday crafts and enjoy refreshments. 

The event will take place in Justin at 1800 State Highway 114. Families will enter the building located just west of NISD Stadium.
"Shrek the Musical" opens this weekend
Tickets are on sale now for the upcoming Northwest High School theatre production, with community members invited to attend one of four performances.

"Shrek the Musical" will be performed December 3-6. Each performance will take place in the Northwest High School Performing Arts Center, with tickets costing $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Northwest ISD employees and Gold Card members receive free admission.

Performances will take place daily at 7 p.m., with a Sunday, December 5, matinee performance that will begin at 2 p.m.

Public invited to attend free Byron Nelson orchestra concert
Congratulations to the Byron Nelson symphony orchestra, who will be headed to the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago later this month.

In preparation for the conference, the orchestra will host a special preview performance of their concert!

Come hear their performance — open to the public and free of charge — at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 12, in the Byron Nelson Performing Arts Center.
Register for annual NISD Reindeer Romp
Registration for Northwest ISD's 14th annual Reindeer Romp 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run remains open! The race will take place in person on Saturday, December 11, at the Alliance Airport. The one mile fun run will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the 5k run starting at 9 a.m.

Packet pickup for all Reindeer Romp participants will be on Wednesday evening, December 8, from 5-8 p.m. at the NISD Athletic Offices.
