Dr. David Hicks named lone finalist for Northwest ISD superintendent

The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to name Dr. David Hicks as the lone finalist for the next superintendent of the school district, placing a proven leader at the helm of the fastest-growing North Texas school system.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hicks has established a reputation of supporting students, educators and schools by focusing on strong learning environments that collaborate with the local community. Dr. Hicks currently serves as superintendent of Sherman ISD, which he has led for six years. As a superintendent, he has focused on fostering top-tier academic and extracurricular programs, ensuring the needs of every child are met, and creating a long-term vision for district growth.

2022-2023 registration will open April 11
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year will open on April 11. If you would like to prepare, please gather the following documents that will be required for currently enrolled, returning or new students to the district.

  • Student birth certificate (new students)
  • Student social security number (new students, only if using their social security card)
  • Student immunization records (new students or if immunizations have been updated)
  • Legal guardian picture ID, (new students or a change has occurred)
  • Proof of residency (ALL STUDENTS, please choose from below)
  • Utility bill, preferred (electric, gas, water)
  • A current lease (for 30 days and then a utility bill)
  • Closing papers (within 30 days)
  • Custody/Legal documents regarding student (if applicable)
  • Most recent transcript or report card (new students, if available)

Enrolling your child — and providing annual proof of residency — as early as possible is one way that you can help your campus and the district prepare for the next school year.

Apply today for Pre-K lottery
Tuition-based students will be selected through a lottery system.
Due to limited class size, tuition-based Northwest ISD Pre-K students will be selected through a lottery system.

Lottery applications may be submitted now through 5 p.m. on April 22.

Pre-Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year opens April 11, 2022, for those meeting state eligibility guidelines for Pre-K.

Spring plant sale begins tomorrow

Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest – will host their annual plant sales this weekend, providing students, parents and community members with the opportunity to buy inexpensive plants and benefit local education.

All schools will host their plant sales from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, April 7, and Friday, April 8. On Saturday, April 9, each school will sell plants from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sales will be conducted in each school’s greenhouse, until supplies last.
Community invited to participate in Northwest Reads event

Volunteers are once again welcome back in person to elementary campuses to take part in our annual Northwest Reads event!

Join us April 22 as we welcome community members into our classrooms — in-person and virtually — to read to our students. Volunteers will be able to engage with the class and share why reading is so important to them!

Want to get involved in our mission but can’t read on April 22? Consider donating a book from our book list to your campus of choice.
Multicultural Night shares traditions at Curtis Elementary
Multicultural Night at Lizzie Curtis Elementary showcased their students' cultural traditions.

Students and families had the opportunity to learn about other cultures through informational booths, food and dance.
NISD to offer school immunization clinics
Northwest ISD will host three children’s vaccination clinics to help families and students prepare for the upcoming school year. The clinics will be held on:

April 23, 2022

Sign up for summer enrichment opportunities
Northwest ISD offers a variety of programs for pre-kindergarten through high school students to enhance their educational experience throughout the summer.

Registration is now available for several summer opportunities. To view a listing of courses and for information on how to register, please visit the district's summer opportunities website.
Mobile Food Pantry canceled for April
Because of student and district holidays, the NISD Mobile Food Pantry is canceled for Saturday, April 16. Families in need of food can still visit any TAFB mobile pantry during the month of April.

Mobile food pantry events are held on the third Saturday of each month at the NISD Administration Building, located at 2001 Texan Drive in Justin. The next NISD mobile food pantry will he held on Saturday, May 21, from 9 – 11 a.m.
