Dr. Mark Foust named lone finalist for superintendent role
The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Mark Foust as the district’s lone finalist for superintendent!

Dr. Foust, current superintendent of Kerrville ISD, is known for overseeing strong academic and extracurricular programs. Prior to Kerrville ISD, he spent the first 21 years of his career in fast-growth Fort Bend ISD.
Winter break December 19 through January 4
All Northwest ISD schools will be closed December 19 through January 4 for Winter break and will reopen with regular schedules on Thursday, January 5.

Please note Friday, December 16, will be an early-release day for all NISD schools! Campuses will dismiss students at the following times:

• Elementary Schools - 11:40 a.m.
• Middle Schools - 12:50 p.m.
• High Schools - 12:40 p.m.
• Steele ECHS and Special Programs Center - 12:30 p.m.
Annual holiday card winners announced
Congratulations to Zugeily Tarango, a sophomore from VR Eaton High School, who received first place in this year's holiday art contest. Her artwork – created using her favorite painting techniques – is printed on the front cover of this year's district holiday card.

Northwest ISD will host a Facebook Live video chat on December 14, starting at 6 p.m.

With such rapid growth, there is a lot happening across the district! Leadership will discuss the naming of Dr. Mark Foust as lone finalist for the superintendent of schools position, proposed attendance boundary adjustments across all campus levels, the location of the district’s eighth middle school and fourth comprehensive high school and proposed changes to school day start and end times for the 2023-2024 school year.

LRPC website updates community on district planning and growth
Members of the NISD Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) provide numerous levels of invaluable input. The LRPC consists of various membersincluding parents, staff, business owners and more — from across Northwest ISD who lead the committee and provide diverse perspectives. The LRPC meets often to study and prioritize the facility needs of the school district and assists in providing recommendations to the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees.

Eaton robotics team succeeds at state meet
Congrats to Eaton High School’s robotics team for competing at the University Interscholastic League’s Best Division Robotics Championships in Frisco!

The team took home first place for their marketing presentation, first place for sportsmanship and their software design was also awarded! Well done!

Angel Tree program serves 1,540 students
Each year, the Northwest ISD community comes together to support our students in need through the Virtual Angel Tree program.

The Northwest ISD Angel Tree program had 1,540 angels on the tree this year, the most ever in the program’s history. Through the amazing generosity of our community, 889 donors adopted all our angels in just 10 days!

Thank you to our many supporters, donors, and volunteers who made this year’s program possible! We look forward to seeing you next year as we continue to serve the students of Northwest ISD.
There's another big cat coming to NISD!
Northwest ISD's seventh middle school — C. W. Worthington — is scheduled to welcome students in August of 2023. Watch below for the school's new mascot and logo reveal!

Grant Brigade awards $73,000 to teachers
The Northwest ISD Education Foundation boarded the Grant Brigade buses and awarded a variety of teaching grants across Northwest ISD. Grant Brigade participants divided into two groups and traveled to schools to surprise the recipients in their classrooms with oversized checks celebrating the award. 
 
This year, the Northwest ISD Education Foundation awarded more than $73,000 that funded 28 grants at 17 campuses across the district. To learn more about the foundation, please visit their website.
Resource Store provides free support to NISD teachers and students
The Northwest ISD Education Foundation's resource store and library provides immediate support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, clothing items and books. All items are free to district educators!

Since the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, the store has welcomed more than 350 in-person shoppers and received 500+ online order requests. Because of overwhelming needs, we are asking for your help! The store is currently out of pencils and markers. Books of all reading levels are also in high demand. If you feel inclined to help, please visit the store's online wishlist.
Mobile Food Pantry open on December 17
Northwest ISD is partnering with Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation to offer a monthly mobile market to provide groceries and assistance to families in need.

Time: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17

Location: NISD Administration Building
2001 Texan Drive in Justin

Food distribution will be in the parking lot next to NISD Stadium until 11 a.m. Food and supplies are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
