Early voting has begun

Early voting in the midterm, state and local elections has begun and lasts through Friday, Nov. 2. Following early voting, Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.

While we encourage every eligible voter to cast a ballot, it's important to note that voting rates among youth registered voters lags far behind other categories. If you have a student eligible to cast a ballot, please encourage him or her to do so.

College and Career Fair scheduled for Oct. 29

Save the date for Monday, Oct. 29, when the district will host its annual College and Career Fair. This year's event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Northwest High School.

The event offers vital information and training on a variety of college- and career-focused topics for students of all ages and their parents or guardians. For more information about the event, click here.
National Merit distinction earned by 18 Northwest ISD students
 For their top scores on the PSAT, 18 Northwest ISD students have earned distinction in the National Merit Scholar program, representing each of the district's four high schools.

To earn National Merit distinction, students must score among the top in the state or nation on the PSAT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during their junior year of high school. Additionally, the College Board partners with the NMSP to honor students through the National Hispanic Recognition Program. These students are among the top Hispanic or Latino test-takers in the nation. To read about all our honorees, click here.

All marching bands earn top ratings, photos from district concert available online
Wilson Middle School students perform in the 2018 Northwest ISD Band Showcase

Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools' marching bands recently received the top rating possible at their Region 2 UIL contest, with the former two advancing to the next round of UIL competition.

The UIL alternates when schools are eligible for area and state marching band competitions through an every-other-year format, with this year including the 2A, 4A and 6A schools. Byron Nelson and Eaton will perform at the 6A Area C contest at Mesquite ISD Memorial Stadium on Monday, Oct. 29.

Northwest ISD held a Facebook Live led by Dr. Ryder Warren yesterday, where he addressed how school finance works in the state of Texas as well as how it affects a property owner's tax rate. The event was filmed in Northwest High School's Creative Media Production Academy, showcasing some of the unique educational opportunities students in the district receive.

Student-athletes compete in regional cross country meet
Byron Nelson_s Cassidy Teuscher competed in the 6A girls race

Northwest ISD cross country runners recently competed in their regional cross country meets, all held at Texas Tech University.

Byron Nelson's Cassidy Teuscher was the district's top finisher overall, placing 18th in the girls 6A race. Eaton's Dominick Vastlik was the top finisher on the boys side, finishing 20th overall in the boys 6A race. Roanoke PTA now accepting applications for alumni scholarship
Roanoke Elementary School

The Roanoke Elementary School PTA is now accepting scholarship applications from its former students who will graduate this year from at Northwest ISD high school.

Applicants can come from any Northwest ISD high school, so long as they attended Roanoke and they or a household family member must be on their high school's PTSA. To download a copy of the application, click here.
