NISD Prepares for In-Person Learning in 2021-2022
On Monday night, the NISD Board of Trustees approved plans for the 2021-2022 school year, which includes only one learning option: In-Person Learning. Remote Learning will not be offered in Northwest ISD next school year, except for students who qualify for Homebound Services because of a serious medical condition.

NISD's 2020-2021 COVID Protocols will expire on June 4, and Remote Learning concludes tomorrow, the last day of the 2020-2021 school year.
Elementary Remote Learners Asked to Return Chromebook
For current Remote Learners in elementary school (up to grade 4) we ask that you turn in your child's Chromebook on June 1* or June 2 to your child's elementary school. Staff will be available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on those two days. (*Hatfield Elementary School will not be available on June 1 due to graduation at the NISD Stadium.)

If you can't make arrangements to turn in the Chromebook on June 1 or 2, curbside drop off will be available at the NISD Administration Building from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday - Thursday, throughout the summer. If you need to make alternate arrangements, please contact the NISD helpdesk at 817-698-1000.

Current 5th grade students may keep their Chromebook in preparation for middle school. Students who are attending summer school should keep their Chromebook.

Northwest ISD is looking forward to celebrating with the Class of 2021 and their families!

Graduation for Steele Accelerated High School will be at the Vernon Solomon Performing Arts Center at NHS at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, May 28.

Commencement ceremonies for the district's three comprehensive high schools are scheduled to be held at the NISD Stadium on Tuesday, June 1. The rain date is Wednesday, June 2, and additional information about the district's plans for inclement weather can be found on the website.

All guest seating is general admission so tickets are not required. Ceremonies will also be live streamed on the NISD YouTube channel for those who can't attend. Printed programs will not be available; but digital copies of the program are available online. NISD Graduates Going Places
How Five NISD Seniors Plan to Further their Education
Throughout their elementary and secondary years, Northwest ISD students are presented with many educational opportunities that can help lead them to their future goals and career aspirations.

With our 2021-2022 seniors getting ready to open the next chapter in their lives after graduation, we would like to highlight five graduates who are continuing to build upon what they have learned during their experiences while enrolled in Northwest ISD.
How To Access Digital Educational Resources This Summer
Throughout the summer, our students still have access to many educational platforms that they use during the year.

Lexia Core 5 and Imagine Math are two great resources that our students use to improve reading and math skills. These programs are set up like a gaming system and are interactive. Please encourage your students to use these and other tools throughout the summer to continue to stay engaged in their learning.

Directions for accessing these tools, as well as other digital resources, can be found on the Student and Parent Technology Help Site.
All NISD Students, Staff Can Sign Up for
Fort Worth Library Cards This Summer Regardless of Residence
Northwest ISD has partnered with the Fort Worth Library this summer to keep our community reading all summer long.

All NISD students and staff members are eligible to sign up for a Fort Worth Library card — regardless of their city of residence — and check out books at any Fort Worth library location. This includes access to the city’s digital library, online resources and events.

Students are also encouraged to participate in the Tails and Tales 2021 Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge, featuring animal and nature-themed challenges to encourage reading. Find events and earn badges at FortWorthLibrary.org.
NISD Students Earn More Than 1,400 Board of Trustees Awards
Over the past two weeks, more than 1,400 Board of Trustee Awards have been presented to students who were honored for their achievements in regional, state, national and international competitions. The in-person award ceremonies, usually held by feeder pattern each spring, did not occur this year due to COVID protocols. Instead, the awards were presented to students directly from their school in the past couple of weeks.

The Trustee Award of Excellence is the highest, most prestigious district award given.

NISD is looking forward to resuming the in-person Board of Trustee Award ceremonies in the spring of 2022.
Sixteen Teams Awarded in Northwest ISD Virtual Robotics Competition
Northwest ISD’s instructional technology department recently crowned the winners from the 2021 virtual robotics competition, awarding 16 teams with medals or certificates for their performances.

The robotics competition consisted of multiple categories separated into third to fifth grade and sixth to eighth grade. Categories varied by age level, with older age groups competing in robotics competitions with higher degrees of difficulties.

Awards for tournament winners were sponsored by the Northwest ISD Education Foundation.
Provide Feedback on
NISD Digital Learning Tools and Platforms
Northwest ISD is always working to assess and improve our methods, and we need your feedback! This year, we have worked with so many different types of technology and we need your input so we can improve the student, staff, and greater Northwest ISD community experience.

If you would like to participate in a ThoughtExchange about this topic, please visit https://tinyurl.com/NISDthoughts by 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 1.
Parent Survey Closes June 4
Northwest ISD is seeking feedback from parents and caregivers to identify strengths and areas needing improvement. If you have not already done so, please complete the survey at www.nisdtx.org/parentsurvey

Northwest ISD conducts this survey every two years, asking the same questions, to gauge parents’ perceptions in several areas of the school district.

If you have children enrolled in more than one school, you will be able to take the survey for each child. If you prefer a paper copy or a Spanish version, please call 817-215-0171.

Thank you in advance for your participation in helping the district work toward achieving its mission to prepare students to confidently navigate their futures!
