New construction website provides updates on district projects

Have you seen construction going on for a Northwest ISD school or facility and wonder what it is? Visit our new construction website to find out!

The website, located at www.nisdtxconstruction.org, features information about active projects (such as Lance Thompson Elementary, seen above), projects in planning and completed projects. Major active projects have dedicated pages where families and community members can view construction progress.

Northwest and Eaton high schools last week held their senior night ceremonies for football players, athletic trainers and several fine arts groups, and photos of the events are now available.

Academy, CTE showcases continue next week

Eaton and Northwest high schools kicked off the district's CTE and academy showcases earlier this week, and Steele and Byron Nelson high schools will round out the showcases next Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

The showcases provide students of all ages and their families with information about Northwest ISD's career and technical education offerings. For more information about the events, click here.
Virtual Angel Tree now open to help students in need this holiday season

Northwest ISD's Virtual Angel Tree is now open at angeltree.nisdtx.org, allowing community members to support a student in need and provide him or her with gifts this holiday season.

By "adopting" a child on the Angel Tree, an individual will receive information about a child to purchase clothes and gifts for him or her. The process is entirely anonymous, with a $100 suggested limit for each child on the Virtual Angel Tree.

Thanksgiving break will take place Nov. 19-23

Northwest ISD students will not attend schools Monday, Nov. 19, through Friday, Nov. 23, in celebration of Thanksgiving, returning to schools on regular schedules Monday, Nov. 26.

Army captain surprises daughter at Nance following lengthy deployment

U.S. Army Captain Steve Philpot surprised his daughter, Emma, at Nance Elementary School on Monday, Oct. 31, following his deployment to Egypt since January.

Capt. Philpot snuck in during student dances to Halloween songs, with Emma elated to see her dad. She wore a shirt saying "I'm getting my daddy back today," which her family picked out as the pre-kindergarten student is still learning to read.

NASCAR driver Joey Gase visits Eaton to discuss organ donation
Family and friends of Cassie Contreras were on hand to support the Donate Life Texas cause

Thanks to NASCAR driver Joey Gase and Donate Life Texas for last week educating Eaton students about organ donation! They also honored two students at the event: organ donor Cassie Contreras and organ recipient Casey Huff. At the race, Mr. Gase's car featured hand prints of those affected by organ donations.
