High schools hosting showcases for incoming students today

Northwest ISD's high schools will each host a showcase for incoming students today, where next year's freshmen or transfers can see the school's academic and extracurricular offerings. Each event lasts from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the host campus.
NHSTV receives award for being best student-run daily show in region

Congratulations to NHSTV, Northwest High School's student-run television program, for being named the Best Daily Live Show in the Southwest U.S. for the fourth consecutive year! Student Television Network awarded NHSTV with the honor, and now the program will compete for the national award.
NEF scholarship application now open
Graduating district seniors can now complete the Northwest ISD Education Foundation's annual scholarship application, which will enter them for various scholarship opportunities. In addition, several school-sponsored organizations are now accepting scholarship applications.

Congratulations to the 23 Northwest ISD student-athletes who yesterday signed their letters of intent! Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest were each represented by multiple student-athletes who signed letters signifying their commitment to continue their academic and athletic careers in college.
2019-20 district calendar set
The 2019-20 district calendar is now set following trustee approval at their most recent school board meeting. The calendar features an Aug. 20 start date for students and a May 22 end date. To view the calendar, click the button below.
Amy Howell named inaugural principal of Lance Thompson Elementary

Amy Howell, current principal of Schluter Elementary School, has been named the first principal of Lance Thompson Elementary School, which is located in the Harvest/Northlake area and set to open in August. Mrs. Howell will continue serving at Schluter until the current school year concludes, and a search for her replacement there is underway.

Congratulations to the district's Elementary Writers of the Month for January! Sam Blatus of Cox, Sophee Peterson of Curtis, Raquel Lopez of Prairie View and Emma Hoang of Schluter were each honored for their writing abilities this month. Great work!
Byron Nelson STUCO recognized for fundraiser helping cancer support group
Byron Nelson Student Council members take part in the Bridge Builders Society breakfast
Great work by the Byron Nelson Student Council for raising $1,300 to help those battling breast cancer! The STUCO coordinated the school's Pink Our Month with events and a T-shirt fundraising sale. Proceeds benefited the Bridge Breast Network, which invited STUCO representatives to its Bridge Builders Society Breakfast recently, where they heard from author and breast cancer survivor Karla Baptiste.
Mark your calendar for Expo on Feb. 28

Save the date of Thursday, Feb. 28, for our annual Expo event! On this day, students from schools across the district will present their transformational learning projects. The event is held at Northwest High School and scheduled to last from 6 to 8 p.m., with refreshments available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A schedule of presentations will be available on Thursday, Feb. 14.
