September is Attendance Awareness Month

September is national Attendance Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of coming to school to gain an education.

Chronic absences can serve as an indicator of lower test scores, especially if the issue persists for more than a year. When children don't show up regularly, they can miss fundamental reading and math skills.

To give children the best chance of learning and reaching their potential, avoid missing school days or create a plan for school attendance. No one expects a sick child to come to school, just that children are in school and learning when they are able and scheduled to do so.
