Online enrollment for 2026-2027 school year opens April 1

Mark your calendars! Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year opens at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 1. To help prepare appropriate staffing, we strongly encourage all families of returning students to complete enrollment for next year before the end of the current school year.

Enrollment is an annual requirement and doesn't roll over from the previous school year, but for returning families, the process is an easy three-step completion. The process is handled through Home Access Center via a guardian’s account, which results in previous enrollment information being completed.

Enrolling your child as early as possible is one way you can help your campus and the district prepare for next school year. Please visit www.nisdtx.org/enroll to learn more!

Lottery applications for tuition-based pre-K open now

Northwest ISD has opened its annual lottery system for admission into the district’s tuition-based pre-kindergarten program for the 2026-2027 school year. Families will have the opportunity to apply until April 8. In Texas, schools only receive funding to operate pre-K facilities if a student qualifies for the state-funded program or if the district accepts tuition for those who do not. For more information, read this news article.

Fourteen NISD students advance to state visual arts competition

Northwest ISD will be represented by 14 students, and 15 pieces of art, at the State Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) competition in San Marcos. Students advanced to the state level after receiving a Superior Rating (IV) in a regional and area round of judging.

To enter the VASE competition, students create artworks and write about their creative processes and understanding of visual art. At the regional competition, students articulate information about their artwork during an interview with a VASE juror, who evaluates their work using a standards-based rubric.

Jurors assess each work of art for originality of concept, technical expertise, understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for visual art, and the interpretation of the student's stated intent.

All artworks receiving a Superior Rating (IV) will advance to Area Judging, held at the end of the meet. The top 10 percent of each division (level) of the Area-qualified artworks will be selected to advance to the State VASE event.

Help the NEF Resource Store and Library

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s resource store and library provides support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! Already this year, more than 1,500 teachers have shopped the store at its new location and saved more than $930,000!

You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist or the library wishlist. Immediate needs include books and snacks. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.
