Elementary schools hosting Welcome Walks for incoming students
Northwest ISD elementary schools invite families of incoming pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students to learn more about their new schools during Welcome Walks hosted in the month of May.
While dates and times vary by campus, each school will host a Welcome Walk to provide students and families with the opportunity to learn more about the school and what early childhood classes are like as well as meet some of the school's staff. To provide flexibility for families, two dates will be provided at each campus after regular school hours, with each date providing the same opportunity.

Watch: Construction and planning update
Thanks to the approval of voters within Northwest ISD, our school district is currently building multiple new schools to meet our growing student enrollment demands. To provide families with an update on projects from the 2021 and 2023 bond packages, a new video is available that features new footage and information regarding both projects currently under construction as well as planned projects.
In the video seen here on Facebook, viewers can see the first renderings of the district's planned early childhood centers, Middle School #8 (located in the Pecan Square community in Northlake) and High School #4 (located near S.H. 170 and I-35). Additionally, construction updates on Perrin Elementary School, the Pike Middle School replacement campus and Northwest High School expansion and renovation are also provided.
Stay tuned for continued construction and planning updates. As new projects begin construction, the district's construction website will be updated at www.nisdtxconstruction.org.

Transfer application window open through May 15
Families interested in requesting a campus transfer for their students for the 2024-2025 school year can do so until 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, through an online transfer form. All transfer requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, as each student’s request is unique.

Art students shine in VASE competitions
Northwest ISD middle and high school art students have had their incredible talents recognized in the Texas Art Education Association's Visual Art Scholastic Events (VASE).
NISD was represented by up 19 high school students — the most recorded by the district — at the State VASE competition in San Marcos last weekend. Also, nine middle school students had their artwork earn Platinum Awards at the regional Junior VASE competition earlier in April.
To enter the VASE competition, students create artworks and write about their creative processes and understanding of visual art. At the competition, students articulate information about their artwork during an interview with a VASE juror, who evaluates their work using a standards-based rubric. Read more, and see the artwork, by clicking for the high school State VASE participants and middle school Junior VASE Platinum Award winners.
