Last day of school (May 22) is an early release day

The end of the 2025-2026 school year is almost here! Northwest ISD's last day is Friday, May 22, which is an early-release school day. Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:45 a.m., middle schools at 12:55 p.m. and high schools at 12:30 p.m. (Steele ECHS at 12:20 p.m.).

We look forward to ending the school year with excellence!

Graduation ceremonies taking place this month

Northwest ISD’s four high schools will host graduation ceremonies later this month, and all the events will be livestreamed for friends and family who cannot attend in person. All ceremonies will be livestreamed, with links to the video feeds and additional information available at www.nisdtx.org/graduation. Please be aware the stream will not go live until near the start of each ceremony.

Steele Early College High School will host its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 22, at Northwest High School. Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools – will each host their ceremonies on Tuesday, May 26, at the University of North Texas Coliseum.

Registration for summer camps and programs remains open

Making plans for the summer? Northwest ISD has lots of opportunities for students throughout the summer months. From athletic and fine arts camps to enrichment opportunities and summer school, information for summer programs can easily be found at www.nisdtx.org/summer.

Enroll now for 2026-2027 school year

Families can now enroll their students for the 2026-2027 school year at www.nisdtx.org/enroll!

Northwest ISD encourages families of returning students to re-enroll before the end of the current school year to minimize class adjustments at the start of the school year. For families of returning students, re-enrollment is a simple process with most information pre-filled based on previous submissions.

Free summer meals begin on May 27 at two campuses

Northwest ISD will again offer free summer meals to children ages 18 and younger, as well as students with disabilities who are ages 21 and younger, as part of the federal Summer Food Service Program.

The Summer Food Service Program is a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture. For children who rely on school meals during the academic year, these meals offer a source of good nutrition when school is out for summer vacation. Per program requirements, meals must be consumed on campus and cannot be taken to go.

This year, meals will be offered at Love Elementary School and Prairie View Elementary School from Monday through Friday, beginning May 27 and concluding June 30. Breakfast will be offered from 8 to 9 a.m., and lunch will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NISD Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

Three Amigos win all-Wilson final at NISD Middle School Robotics Competition

A big congratulations to Three Amigos from Wilson Middle School for winning the NISD CTE Middle School Robotics Competition last week! They won an all-Wildcat final against a second team from Wilson, The Squirrel Stinks.

Robotics I students across the district have been learning skills and gaining experience all year, culminating in last week's VEX robotics matches. Look at those faces... the competition was intense!

Sendera Ranch Elementary recreates Ellis Island experience

For the 10th straight year, fifth graders at Sendera Ranch Elementary boarded the boat for an Ellis Island experience!

Students received character personas of European immigrants from 1910, then used information to create a detailed back story that included the push and pull factors of immigration. After disembarking the boat, students traveled through the Great Hall of Ellis Island, visiting various check points such as medical, legal, currency exchange, transportation, and the post office.

This experience allowed students to learn about the history of our country, all while they practicing budgeting, letter writing, geography, reading, and a little acting!

Join us Inside the Classroom

Northwest ISD's Inside the Classroom series visits NISD campuses throughout the year and highlights the magical moments that happen between teachers and students.

The next edition of 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 takes you to Elizabeth Palma Tripp’s AP Spanish IV class at Eaton High School, where she created an art gallery inside a Spanish class. From gallery walks to real-time conversations, students are sharpening their language skills and preparing for the AP exam in creative, engaging ways.

Stay tuned for upcoming editions of Inside the Classroom!

NEF Party with a Purpose Gala raises over $400,000

What an incredible night at the 2026 NEF Party with a Purpose Gala presented by Huckabee!

Because of our amazing community, sponsors, donors and guests, this year’s Gala raised more than $404,000 to support students and teachers in Northwest ISD!

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, bid in our auctions, volunteered and helped make this event such a success. And a huge thank you to our fantastic emcees, Principals Danielle Grimes and Shanel Jones, for bringing so much energy and fun to the evening!

We’d also like to recognize the incredible educators and staff who helped make our program so meaningful: Jenny Cahak, Michelle McAdams, Jennifer Board, Aaron McAdams, Shelly Butler, Caroline Moore and Alyssa Linenkugal.

Thank you for sharing your passion and helping showcase the impact of our mission. We are so grateful for this community and all that we can accomplish together!

Help the NEF Resource Store and Library

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s resource store and library provides support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! Already this year, more than 1,500 teachers have shopped the store at its new location and saved more than $930,000!

You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist or the library wishlist. Immediate needs include books and snacks. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.

Mobile Food Pantry closing after May 16

After thoughtful consideration, the Northwest ISD Education Foundation and Northwest ISD will end operations of the NEF & NISD Food Pantry at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The final pantry will be held on May 16, 2026.

Since its launch, the food pantry has provided meaningful support to Northwest ISD families and the surrounding community, helping ensure students have access to essential food resources outside of school. We are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers, community partners, and donors who gave their time, energy, and resources each month to make this program possible. We couldn’t have done this without the partnership of Tarrant Area Food Bank whose generosity has made a lasting difference for families across our district.

While we are proud of the impact this program has had, several factors have led to the decision to close the pantry, including declining attendance, limited staff capacity to continue operating the program, and the availability of additional food pantry resources throughout our communities that are able to serve families on a regular basis.

NEF and Northwest ISD remain deeply committed to supporting students and families, and we want to ensure those in need are aware of other local resources available for assistance.
