NISD Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week
Thank you to all of the educators across Northwest ISD who invest so much in our children each and every day. We are proud that you help us ensure kids come first!

Every year, NISD recognizes an Exemplar Educator from each campus who has demonstrated the highest level of commitment and passion for their job. These educators were selected based on how they foster the development of students, how they create a learning environment that stimulates students’ creativity, and how they motivate kids and individualize instruction. They adapt, lead, and positively shape their campus and their students. NISD will recognize the Exemplar Educators and announce the 2021 Elementary Teacher of the Year and the Secondary Teacher of the Year at a special recognition on Wednesday

Thank you again to these amazing individuals and to all of our teachers in Northwest ISD!

First Graders Study Chicks for Spring Science Project
“I can’t wait to see their little faces!”

First grader Jase Andrus squirmed with excitement as he and his classmates from Lizzie Curtis Elementary made the trek to their school’s “chick room” for the first time.

Every spring, dozens of eggs are incubated and hatched in elementary schools across Northwest ISD. This year, schools incubated a total of 297 eggs and hatched 168 chicks. The project, which is part of the first grade unit that studies animal life cycles, gives students a chance to see science in action.
Claytopia 2021 Finale Unveils Winner
After last week's storms caused a power surge at Eaton High School and shut down the pottery kilns, postponing the finale of the competition, a winner has officially been declared for Claytopia 2021!

Senior Hailey Bibb, a first-time Claytopia participant, is this year's champion. Eaton teachers and staff judged the final four participants' creations, critiquing style, technique and overall purpose of the designs.

The two-week event took place during advisory time within V.R. Eaton High School’s Visual Art Department, and gave potters an opportunity to create particular objects and put them on display for judges.
