All angels adopted, final call for Angel Tree donations and volunteers

Volunteers are hard at work accepting and processing gifts for more than 1,900 Northwest ISD students — or angels — who were adopted as part of our annual virtual Angel Tree.

Deliver Angel Tree items, along with a printed copy of the form for the angel, to the Dennis McCreary Multipurpose Facility (former Pike Middle School gymnasium), located at 2200 Texan Drive in Justin, by Monday, December 2.

Items are accepted Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Special extended hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. will be available on Monday, December 2. Please remember the district will be closed for Thanksgiving break the week of November 25 to 29.

For those who would like to provide their time as well, volunteers are needed to help receive and sort gifts. To volunteer, sign up on this webpage.

Location of first early childhood center finalized

Northwest ISD has finalized the location of the district’s first early childhood center approved by voters in the 2023 bond election. The new facility, which will serve pre-kindergarten students, will be located off F.M. 156, south of Hillshire Drive and north of East Bonds Ranch Road.

The ECC will open in August 2026 and is the first of four such schools approved by voters. Locations for the remaining three schools are under consideration. Additionally, Northwest ISD will wait for updates in the upcoming state legislative session regarding school funding, as the district is in the process of analyzing potential operational budget cuts following voter disapproval of the recent VATRE. Currently, districts across Texas only receive half-day funding for a full day of education for pre-K students who qualify by state standards. Northwest ISD’s pre-K population has increased dramatically, growing by more than 60% in just two years.

Students serving coffee with a smile at

Hughes Brews

As the November mornings get cooler, Hughes Elementary has the perfect solution for the chill in the air. Each Friday morning, the Hughes Brews coffee cart is open and ready to serve hot, fresh coffee right outside the Hawks’ front door.

Operated by the Student Leadership Team, Hughes Brews has been open on Friday mornings all semester, plus at select school events. The cart is open throughout morning drop off times in front of Hughes, allowing parents an opportunity to purchase coffee. Then, students bring the cart inside and make their way down the hallways offering coffee to teachers and staff.
