Annual Angel Tree program now open to support students in need | | |
The annual Angel Tree program is now open to support Northwest ISD students in need this holiday season! More than 1,300 students are on this Virtual Angel Tree. The Angel Tree allows community members to select an anonymous child to support this holiday season by ensuring they have gifts.
Community members can visit angeltree.nisdtx.org to select a student – or multiple students – to provide gifts. A suggested $100-150 price point exists for each child.
Additionally, community members are invited to volunteer for the Angel Tree program, helping sort and organize gifts and deliveries.
| | NISD voters approve Prop A for lower class sizes | | |
According to preliminary election results, Northwest ISD voters have approved the school district’s operations funding ballot measure, which will lead to decreased class sizes and increased compensation.
Preliminary results indicate 11,636 voters, or 51.87%, cast ballots in favor of Proposition A, which is projected to generate $12 million in new operations funding. Northwest ISD plans to use $8 million of this funding on class sizes and student programs, while the remaining $4 million will be used to provide teacher and staff raises. For information about the plan for funding, read this news article.
| | High School Showcase set for November 11 | | |
Northwest ISD invites families interested in learning more about its high schools to the district’s annual High School Showcase on Tuesday, November 11.
Each district high school – Byron Nelson, Eaton, Northwest and Steele Early College – will host its showcase in the evening, when students can learn about academic courses and extracurricular activities. Each showcase will begin at 5:30 p.m. Though the event is primarily aimed at 2026-2027 freshmen, any current Northwest ISD student or guardian is also welcome to attend.
In addition to general information about campus programs and opportunities, school faculty will provide students and families with information for course selection for the coming academic year. Current students involved in academies, extracurricular programs and other unique services will be on hand to share their experiences.
| | Families encouraged to complete meal application amid SNAP changes | | |
Northwest ISD families may qualify for free or reduced-price school meals by completing the meal application, especially as recent changes to SNAP benefits could affect some families’ automatic eligibility.
While the free and reduced-price meals program is available year-round, completing the application as soon as possible helps ensure no interruption in meal benefits. Families who participate in Special Assistance Programs, such as SNAP, FDPIR or TANF, may still automatically qualify, but recent updates could change that status.
There is no deadline to apply. For eligibility details, FAQs and the online application, visit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program webpage. Families with questions or who need help completing the form can contact Northwest ISD Child Nutrition at 817-215-0007.

As part of Red Ribbon Week, they expanded their reach to the district's seven middle schools to speak with eighth graders about the importance of choosing a drug-free lifestyle. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! Already this year, more than 600 teachers have shopped the store at its new location and saved more than $385,000!
You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist or the library wishlist. Immediate needs include books and snacks. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.
