Booles and McDonald to lead new campuses

John Booles, current principal of Sendera Ranch Elementary School, will serve as the inaugural principal of Molly Livengood Carter Elementary School.
As the leader of Sendera Ranch for the past seven years, Mr. Booles has successfully steered the campus through periods of tremendous growth in a popular area of Northwest ISD.

Dr. Jessica McDonald, current principal of Hughes Elementary School, will lead Johnie Daniel Elementary School in its inaugural year, providing the campus with a longtime district leader.
Dr. McDonald has served as a principal in Northwest ISD since 2009, and she brings more than 20 years of experience serving students in Texas.

2023-2024 attendance boundaries approved
|
|
Following school board approval on January 23, Northwest ISD has finalized 2023-2024 attendance boundaries that will best balance the student populations at schools across the district during a period of unprecedented growth.
With the approval, boundaries have been set for three new schools – Carter and Daniel elementary schools and Worthington Middle School – and adjusted at other areas facing tremendous student enrollment growth. The boundary approval includes changes made thanks to community feedback provided both electronically and at four rezoning meetings throughout January.

Byron cheer brings home two national titles

Congratulations to the Byron Nelson High School cheer team who made history by securing two 2023 National Cheerleaders Association national titles in the Game Day and Large Varsity Performance divisions!

Steele awards associate degree recipients
|
|
Forming the second-largest class of earners from James M. Steele Early College High School, 14 students will accept their associate degrees two weeks prior to receiving their official high school diplomas.
To qualify, students must have completed 60 hours of dual credit coursework that included requirements to meet the criteria for the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees.

Students awarded TMEA All-State accolades
|
|
Northwest ISD would like to congratulate the 12 students selected to Texas Music Educators Association’s (TMEA) All-State ensembles, the highest honor a high school musician can achieve in Texas.
The top-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles sponsored by the Band, Orchestra and Vocal Divisions.

Students participate in Spanish Spelling Bee
|
|
Congratulations to the 31 participants — in third, fourth and fifth grade from Prairie View Elementary School and Roanoke Elementary School — who competed in Northwest ISD's third annual Spanish Spelling Bee contest!
The annual event, supported by the Northwest ISD Education Foundation, challenges students to correctly spell difficult and unique vocabulary words in Spanish.

Expo celebrates future-ready learning by involving fellow students, teachers and the community in an exhibition of Northwest ISD’s innovative and inspiring educational opportunities. The event gives students the chance to shine as they fine tune their presentation skills and communicate their innovative ideas in a variety of ways. Combined with culinary arts, photography, orchestra, career and technology pathways and other groups across the district, Expo 2023 is sure to be an unforgettable night.

The Big Event — the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation — will take place this year on Saturday, April 1!
If you have a job student volunteers can help with, please fill out this job request form by February 24.
Students are willing to help with jobs around the house, weeding, mowing, painting, gardening, tree-trimming and general clean outs!

Make plans to attend Teacher Career Fair

Northwest ISD is hosting its fourth annual Teacher Career Fair on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Byron Nelson High School.
This is an invitation-only event. To be considered for the event, you must complete an Employment Application and apply to the Teacher Career Fair posting.
Selected applicants will have the opportunity to meet with campus administrators and are guaranteed at least two interviews. The event will include a “Meet and Greet” from 5-5:30 p.m. with interviews scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Resource Store provides free support to NISD teachers and students
|
|
The Northwest ISD Education Foundation's resource store and library provides immediate support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, clothing items and books. All items are free to district educators!
Since the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, the store has welcomed more than 350 in-person shoppers and received 500+ online order requests. Because of overwhelming needs, we are asking for your help! The store is currently out of pencils and markers. Books of all reading levels are also in high demand. If you feel inclined to help, please visit the store's online wishlist.

Play corn hole and raise money for NISD!
|

Join the Northwest ISD Education Foundation for a fun night of cornhole competition to raise funds for teachers and students in Northwest ISD!
The double-elimination tournament — run by the Texas Cornhole League — is Wednesday, February 8, at the Mule Barn in Justin. Registration and practice begins at 6 p.m. Play begins at 7 p.m.

Mobile Food Pantry open on February 18
|

Northwest ISD is partnering with Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation to offer a monthly mobile market to provide groceries and assistance to families in need.
Time: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18
Location: NISD Administration Building
2001 Texan Drive in Justin
Food distribution will be in the parking lot next to NISD Stadium until 11 a.m. Food and supplies are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
