Register returning students on July 24

Registration for the 2017-18 school year for returning Northwest ISD students will begin Monday, July 24, through the PowerSchool system. This system will send parents and guardians a snapcode and link to register their children; much of the information may already be filled out based on last year's data. PowerSchool will walk parents and guardians through a step-by-step process to input any necessary information.

Enrollment is already open for students who will be new to the district in 2017-18 at www.nisdtx.org/enrollment. This website will be updated on July 24 with links for returning students.

To ensure the enrollment process is as easy as possible for families, Northwest ISD will hold centralized summer registration for its three feeder patterns. Registration Roundup sponsored by the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs will take place from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at each feeder zone's high school on the following dates:
  • July 31: Eaton High School
  • Aug. 2: Northwest High School
  • Aug. 11: Byron Nelson High School
If an elementary student is at a school that will feed into Northwest High School, for instance, his or her parents or guardians can attend the Aug. 2 registration event. Students who will attend Steele Accelerated High School can attend any of the three events.

Families can either complete any additional steps of the registration process (such as dropping of required documents) at Registration Roundup events or their campuses.
Summer camp opportunities still available

A wide variety of summer camps are still accepting registration, including academic, athletic and fine arts camps.

For information about camps being offered by or in partnership with Northwest ISD, visit www.nisdtx.org/summer. This website contains a compilation of opportunities available, categorized on its left sidebar (the links will appear at the top of the screen in a tan box on mobile devices).

Business academy students competing for top national honors with their companies
Feel the Color founder Jakayla Dixon gives an interview

Two Northwest ISD student-run companies are competing for the top company award in Junior Achievement, making them among just 15 finalists nationwide for the honor.

Students from the Academy of Business Management & Entrepreneurship, housed at Eaton High School, are competing in Junior Achievement's Company of the Year award. The students are currently in Washington D.C. for the organization's annual National Student Leadership Summit.

CHAAO, a company that makes jewelry from recycled materials, and Feel the Color, a company that makes fabric braille tags for clothing to assist those with visual impairments, are Northwest ISD's two representatives. Feel the Color is also one of five finalists for the Delta Social Impact Award, presented by the eponymous airline company to honor students who give back to their communities.

Both companies are active on Twitter, located at @alartchaao and @feelthecolor1.
