School begins Aug. 28, make sure your children are registered

The start of school is less than two weeks away! Northwest ISD schools resume classes on Monday, Aug. 28, and parents and guardians are asked to have their children registered by Tuesday, Aug. 22, so schedules can be created.

Regular school hours for the 2017-18 school year will remain unchanged from last year and are as follows:
  • Elementary Schools: 7:40 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Middle Schools: 8:50 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.
  • High Schools: 8:40 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Steele Accelerated High School and Special Programs Center: 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
  • Prekindergarten: 7:40 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. (morning session), 11:20 a.m. to 3 p.m. (afternoon session)
To enroll a child for school, visit Those having difficulty registering their child for the 2017-18 school year should contact the district's support line or PowerSchool, the provider of the enrollment software. The district's support line can be reached at 817-698-1099 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PowerSchool's support line can be reached at 866-752-6850 and will operate on extended hours throughout August, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Northwest ISD Volleyball Classic tournament underway


The annual Northwest ISD Volleyball Classic tournament is underway, and each of the district's three comprehensive high schools can be cheered on for the next few days.


Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest are each hosting pools for the duration of the tournament, which began today and lasts until Saturday. To view the full tournament schedule, visit this website and click on "NISD Volleyball Classic." From here, select "high school" and go to a desired school's page to view its scores in the tournament as well as upcoming games.

Back-to-School Fair helps students in need this Saturday
Galderma employees stuff backpacks

The Northwest ISD Back-to-School Fair, presented in partnership with the United Way of Denton County, will take place this Saturday, Aug. 19, at Pike Middle School and provide students in need with items and services to prepare for the start of school.

From 9 a.m. to noon, families can receive school supplies and backpacks as well as hearing screenings, haircuts, eye exams, physicals, immunizations and more.

Registration for the fair ended earlier this month, but students in need will not be turned away as long as supplies are available. For those who wish to help, volunteer support and donations are still being accepted. For more information, click here.
Meet the Teacher events at elementary schools set for Aug. 24

Each Northwest ISD elementary school will host Meet the Teacher events on Thursday, Aug. 24, the week before the 2017-18 school year begins.

All events will take place in the evening, though times will vary slightly by school. School administrators or teachers will soon begin contacting families with information about their Meet the Teachers events. At the events, parents and guardians can speak directly with their children's teachers and have their questions answered.
