First-ever district letter jacket now residing in administration building lobby
Northwest ISD honored Calvin Smith, the district’s first-ever letter jacket recipient, during a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 21, at its administration building. Earlier this year, Mr. Smith donated the letter jacket he earned in 1950 as captain of the Northwest High School basketball team. The district now has Mr. Smith’s jacket on display in the lobby of its administration building.
Byron Nelson's new field house nearing completion
Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on Byron Nelson High School's new athletic field house, which is slated to open in the coming weeks. The new field house is part of an expansion of the school approved by voters in the 2017 bond package. Once the new building is completed, much of the existing athletic space in the school will be repurposed for learning spaces to keep pace with a growing student population.

Academy tours taking place in November
All of Northwest ISD's academies will host tours for prospective students during the first two weeks of November, with each school's academies holding their events on specific days. These tours provide eighth-grade students considering requesting enrollment at academies with a great opportunity to see what each offers. Expect information on the enrollment request process for current eighth-graders to arrive in the coming weeks.
