Spring break begins this weekend

Spring break officially begins this weekend! Students are off from March 9 to 17 and return to schools on Wednesday, March 18. Teachers and staff will be on campuses the previous two days, March 16 and 17, for professional development.
Bond proposal designed to accommodate student growth

Our district is projected to add 6,100 new students over the next four to five years, and the 2020 Northwest ISD bond proposal was designed to accommodate that growth. For more information about the proposed bond package and its associated referendum, visit the bond website.
Great work by students involved in Expo last week
Great work by the hundreds of students who presented in or participated at our annual Expo showcase last week! During the annual event, students presented their innovative educational projects to show some of what they've learned so far this school year.
Practicing proper hygiene during coronavirus, COVID-19 concerns

Our district continues to stay in contact with local and state medical agencies as we monitor coronavirus and COVID-19 news, and the best prevention against the disease remains proper hygiene. Please remember to regularly wash hands for at least 20 seconds, and always cover your mouth (with a shirt sleeve or other item that doesn't come in contact with others) when you cough or sneeze. Tuition-based pre-kindergarten application process begins
The application process for Northwest ISD’s tuition-based pre-kindergarten program for the 2020-21 school year is now open, providing families with the opportunity to apply for pre-K to prepare their students for a school environment. Families can now submit applications for the lottery system, which would allow them to register their children if selected.

The 2020 Northwest ISD Education Foundation Gala promises to be an unforgettable night of fun with one serious goal: supporting the foundation’s mission to empower educators and encourage future-ready students in Northwest ISD! NEF’s Party with a Purpose is Saturday, April 18, at the DFW Marriott Hotel at Champions Circle. The event includes delicious food, lively entertainment, an educator grant show case, silent and live auctions, and more! Sponsorships and individual tickets are available, as well as opportunities to support by donating an item to the fundraising efforts. Congratulations to our elementary students named Writers of the Month! Three students were chosen for February: Liberty Austin from Curtis Elementary School, Chloe Jones from Nance Elementary School and Kaitlyn Rodriguez from Schluter Elementary School.
2020 U.S. census coming April 1

Once every decade, the United States government conducts a census to create an accurate count of people living in the United States. This count is vital in determining how federal resources are allocated to areas across the country, from representation in Congress to how much federal funding is directed to communities. This year's census will take place April 1, and it is the first time it will be available online or via phone responses as well as the existing paper option.

Read about Byron Nelson and Eaton high schools' cheerleading squads placing at state, a Steele Accelerated High School program helping young adult students prepare for the workforce, the formation of the district Middle School Dance Team and more.
