Spring break begins this weekend

Spring break is nearly here! Students and staff have all next week off, from March 11 to 15, and return to schools the following Monday, March 18. All schools operate on their regular schedules both tomorrow (the day before spring break begins) and March 18 (the day students and staff return from spring break).
Thompson's Marcie Conrad named finalist for HEB Lifetime Achievement Award

Congratulations to Thompson Elementary School’s Marcie Conrad, who HEB has named a finalist for its Lifetime Achievement Award for elementary teachers! Mrs. Conrad is one of just five teachers in the running for the award, with the winner set to be announced in May.
District middle school dance team tryouts begin March 18
The district middle school dance team audition process will take place March 18, 19 and 21 at Northwest High School, with a mandatory parent and caregiver meeting scheduled for March 18. Each day of the tryout process will last from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with students who will attend any of the district's middle schools next year welcome to audition.
Spring issue of district magazine now available
The spring issue of our district magazine, Northwest Navigator, is now available! Read about Byron Nelson volleyball player Paige Flickinger being named Gatorade's Texas Volleyball Player of the Year, Steele students earning associate degrees while still in high school, Justin students using VR thanks to a Northwest ISD Education Foundation grant and more.
District names elementary Writers of the Month
Congratulations to the district's Elementary Writers of the Month for February! Kellen Hunter of Beck, Marquelle Hayward of Haslet, Alyvia Williams of Love and James Looney of Seven Hills were each honored for their writing abilities this month. Great work!
Seven Destination Imagination teams advance to state
Congratulations to seven of our Destination Imagination teams for advancing to the state meet! The teams advanced following successful showings at the regional meet held at Northwest High School, where a total of 38 Northwest ISD teams earned places. Teams advancing to state come from Granger, Lakeview and Thompson (two teams) elementary schools as well as Medlin Middle School (three teams).

Facebook Live regarding drug prevention taking place March 20
On March 20, Dr. Ryder Warren, Northwest ISD superintendent, will hold a Facebook Live Q&A about electronic cigarette dangers, drug prevention and the seriousness of consequences of using either in our district. Northwest ISD is calling for parents to partner with us in these efforts of drug prevention. Tune in live on the district’s Facebook page at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, to learn more about what NISD is doing to make students and parents more aware of the dangers of e-cigs and vapes as well as how you can help and report anonymous tips.
Tuition-based pre-kindergarten lottery application now open

The application process for Northwest ISD's 2019-20 tuition-based pre-kindergarten program is now open. The tuition-based program is a half-day pre-K session during every regular school day. To be eligible for the program, potential students must live within Northwest ISD boundaries and be 4 years old by Sept. 1.
