Steele Approved as Early College High School
James M. Steele Accelerated High School has officially been designated as a Texas Education Association Early College High School. Beginning at the start of the 2021-2022 school year, students attending Steele Accelerated High School in ninth grade — and those in tenth and eleventh grade who are enrolled in the school’s Collegiate Academy —will receive free college courses and textbooks.

“We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity to our students,” said Ryder Warren, Ed.D., NISD superintendent of schools. “We’ve been discussing this possibility for years, and our board and district leadership have been able to take this step to expand our students’ educational options.”
Eaton High Baseball Graduate Drafted by St. Louis Cardinals
Xavier Casserilla, VR Eaton High School Class of '21 alumnus, was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round of the MLB draft. Xavier set multiple school records last season.
NISD Earns Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
For the 19th consecutive year, Northwest ISD has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The honor recognizes NISD's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the year ending June 30, 2020. 

In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report satisfied both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.
Communications Team Wins State, National Awards
Northwest ISD’s communications and community relations department and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation received eight awards from national and state professional organizations in the 2020-2021 school year.

The team earned three Awards of Excellence from the Nation School Public Relations Association and two gold awards, two silver awards and a crystal commendation certificate of merit in the annual Texas School Public Relations Association Star Awards.
Mobile Food Market, Immunization Clinic Offers Assistance for Families in Need Saturday, July 17
Mobile Food Market

Northwest ISD is partnering with Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation to offer a monthly mobile market.

Time: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17

Location: NISD Administration Building
2001 Texan Drive in Justin

Food distribution will be in the parking lot next to NISD Stadium.
Immunization Clinic

A children's vaccination clinic will be held at the Northwest ISD Administration Building from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 17.

Northwest ISD Now Hiring Bus Drivers
Northwest ISD is seeking applicants who are 18 years and older for bus driver positions starting at $18/hour. Employees receive paid training, TRS retirement, and benefits, including medical, dental and vision.
